Messersmith named to dean’s list Michael Messersmith, Jr., of Dallas, was named to the dean’s list at Duke University, Durham, N.C. for the spring 2001 semester. He is also a member in Phi Eta Sigma, the national freshman honor society. Michael is a 1999 graduate of Wyoming Seminary, where he received the Harry W. and Emma R. Ruggles Award for the outstanding grad- | uate, He was awarded a Naval ROTC scholarship and is the recipient of a community service commendation as well as the American Legion Leadership Medal from his NROTC unit. Michael is the son of Mike and Lucy Messersmith, Dallas, and the grand- son of Attorney and Mrs. Robert L. Fleming, Dallas. Sem fund phonathon coming up As Wyoming Seminary prepares for its 2001-2002 Annual Fund campaign, members of the Parents Fund Division are making plans for the school’s Parents Phonathon, to be held October 23, 24 and 29. Parents’ contributions to the Annual Fund help provide school equipment, supplies, books and activities, said Susan Dantona Jol- ley, Director of Annual Giving. All current parents are invited and encouraged to volunteer for the Phonathon. Sem’s 2001-2002 Annual Fund, co-chaired by alumni and cur- rent parents Paul Lumia, Class of 1981 and Melanie Maslow Lumia, Class of 1982, will emphasize the advances the school has made in student body diversification, faculty development, technology, fi- nancial aid, curriculum development, academic programs, and’ pro- grams designed for character building.
