The students in the Builders Club, under the guid- ance of Mrs. Koss had a penny war in their homerooms. The overall “i student body contributed over $1,300 during the penny wars. The Builders Club members also sold friendship compatibility forms which were scored by computer. This generated another $300 to- wards Cystic Fibrosis research. Students contributed over $1,600 to Cystic Fibrosis research. Dallas students win engineering olympics Students from Dallas High School took first place in the Parachute Design Competition of Wilkes University’s Engineering Olympics. First place winners Seth Yeager and Jeffery Jumper each took home a trophy. The team of nine students and one advisor received a plaque. For the Parachute Design contest, the students designed a parachute out of supplies given to them by the Wilkes Engineering faculty and were instructed to build it according to the regulations. They were given three tries to land it on the bullseye target. The di- ‘ameters of the target were marked with points. The students with the highest points won. Kathleen Zabresky Daskalakes, Harveys Lake, received the Robert J. Ell 150 Service to Alma Mater Award, which recognizes ex- traordinary service, dedication, and commit- ment to King’s College. She is a facility access billing administra- tor at C-TEC where she has worked for 25 years. She has volunteered in the annual King's golf tournament for more than 11 years, and has served as co- chair since 1996. In 1999 she brought in the largest number of new hole sponsors and also the largest number of prizes for golfers. Daskalakes volunteers for the Annual Fund community cam- paign, and served as a captain in 1995 and a vice chair since 1996. Daskalakes is phonathon volunteer Kathleen Daskalakes Charles Wasserott member of the executive com- mittee of the Century Club. She is a member of the Har- vey's Lake Protective Association and the Harvey's Lake Women's Club. Charles W. Wasserott IV was honored with the Leo Award, which recognizes an alumnus within 15 years of graduation who has demonstrated out- standing achievement in there professional or community activ- ities. Since he first began attending King's in 1973, Wasserott has displayed his affection and gen- erosity to King’s in many ways. A full-time student when he mar- ried, he began taking courses part-time over the next 20 years while building his medical sup- ply company, Patient Care Cor-@ poration, and raising a family. He completed his degree in 1997, but his continued affilia- tion with students kept him re- sponsive to their needs. Wasserott provided boats to the crew club, stage props for the theatre, raffle items to any club in need, equipment to the physician assistant program and discounts to physician assistant students. He instituted the an-@ nual Northeast Council Boy Scout Merit Badge College at King’s, bringing more than 100 boys to campus each year.
