Old- ham graduated cum laude on June 18 from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, N.Y. He was ranked 19th in a class of 208 graduates. In addi- tion to being awarded a bachelor of science degree in maritime op- erations and technology, he also received a Third Mate Merchant Marine license and was commis- sioned as an ensign in the U.S. Naval Reserve. At the academy's awards con- vocation, Midshipman Oldham received the CSX Lines Award. Qualifications for this award in- clude above average academic and practical interest in the sea- faring profession, demonstrated technical proficiency, service to the Academy, leadership ability, and professional aptitude. He was also elected to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges in recog- nition of his outstanding merit and accomplishment as a stu- dent at the Academy.
