6 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA July 11, 2001 L —_— 55th Annual Back Mountain Memorial Library Auction Thousands of bidders and browsers turned out for the 55th annual Back Mountain Memorial Library Auc- tion, and the weather cooperated enough that record sales were made. The event is run entirely by volun- teers, many of whom were present for every hour of the four-day “so- cial event of the year.” Community Photo Album- Scott Judson made sure his bid was noticed during the children’s auction. Mel Nimon and Shirley Forney took their turns in the Basket Booth. There were 22 bas- | kets to choose from. Feleccia Waynesboro, who organizes the “Bid-Time Stories” for chil- dren, was flanked by Kimberly Fowler, left, who was the winning bidder for a Sesame Street book and Sonia Manzano, “Maria” of Sesame Street, who read for an hour Friday night. Manzano wrote a personal greeting to Kim in the book. Also on stage were Charlotte Bartizek, co-chairman, Carl Bartizek, and Ernie Ashbridge, antiques chairman. Trying out the Victorian couch they had just purchased, from left: John Yenason, Frank Henry, Wendy Henry, Lauren Henry and Carly Kropp. The couch and other Victorian items will find their way to a place at Harveys Lake.
