One hundred and twen- ty-five of the best high school juniors in the United States representing 48 dif- ferent states will be showcased in this invitation-only tournament. Volleyball tourney March 31 at LCCC The Health and Physical Education Department of Luzerne County Com- munity College will hold its 15th annu- al volleyball tournament on Saturday, March 31 and Sunday, April 1, begin- ning at 9 a.m., at the college gymnasi- um. Saturday's tournament will be co- ed with at least two females per team. An all-male tournament will be held on Sunday. The tournament will be round robin play followed by single elimina- tion play-offs. Teams are responsible for supplying up. and down officials. Registration deadline is March 23. Cost is $85 per team, per day. This year's fundraiser is being held in honor of Ruby Carmon, retired LCCC health and physical education professor. The Shootout is a Free Throw and Three Point Shooting Competition for boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 16. Each event will have multiple age flights with shooting distances modified accordingly. Prizes will be presented to the top three finishers in each flight and overall champs. There will also be a Parent-Child Team Shooting Compe- tition giving parents and their children a fun-filled opportunity to team-up and compete.
