The school’s Pastoral Board recently approved the es- tablishment of the new Gate House Preschool to be located in the “yellow house” at 38 Machell Ave. (adjacent to Gate of Heaven EIl- ementary School). The new preschool is carrying on the school’s mission to edu- cate students for the new millen- nium in light of the gospel mes- sage. The preschool format will in- clude several options ranging from a five day morning session from 8:151t0 10:45, and a five day after- noon session from 11:45 to 2:15, as well as options for Monday, Gate of Heaven plans preschool Wednesday and Friday atten: dance, or Tuesday and Thursday enrollment. The primary focus of the Gate House Preschool will be to en- hance a wide range of develop- mentally appropriate cognitive, linguistic, quantitative and social skills. This creative approach is designed to stimulate the natural curiosity of young children through a sequentially designed curriculum. Reading is Fun(damental) at L-J The Lehman-Jackson PTA recently hosted its first RIF (Reading is Fundamental) Book Distribution of the year. RIF Chairperson Cheryl Summa and dozens of PTA parents volunteered their time to read and distribute more than 600 free books to the students at the elementary school. RIF is the nation's oldest and largest nonprofit literacy organization; it provides books and reading-motivational activities to more than 3 million children each year.
