\V J | OF pr > Dallas High School names Students of the Qua The Dallas P.T.S.0., along with the Guid- ance Dept., recently announced the first "Student of the Quarter" awards of .the 2000-2001 school yedr. Awards were presented by Cynthia Mitchell, Student of the Quarter Chairperson, and spon- sors State Representative Phyllis Mundy and Karen and Dan Cornell of Pikes Creek Park, who presented each winner with a S100 Federal Savings Bond. Ihe winners were: Kevin Covert, Creative Stu- dent. Kevin Covert is a 17-year old 12th grader. He lives in Dal- las Village; his parents are Kevin and Mary Kay Covert, and he has abrother, Mark. Kevin's extracurricular school activities include the ' marching band and the theatre; outside of school ( Kevin: is involved in P.M.E.A. events with the District and Re- gional Band and the Susquehanna University Wind High School Ensemble. Kevin has made the honor roll, .is a member of the National Honor Society, and he attended N.Y.L.C in Washington, D.C. His favorite hobby is music. ¥ 000 Jennifer Gross, School Spirit Student. Jennifer Gross is 17 and in “12th grade. She lives on Ryman Rd. in Dallas with her mother, Lynda Gross, and ‘her brother, Michael Gross. Jennifer plays the trum- pet. In’. .the marching, Jazz, - and concert bands, and she ac- companies the chorus and Girls Select Chorus on the piano. She was Creative Student of the Month last year, is a National Honor Society member, and,she is also a member of the District Chorus and the District Band. Outside of school, Jennifer is an organist at her church and plays the piano at weddings and parties. Music is her special interest; she also likes animals and is particularly fond of horseback riding. - Spring Play; in Shane Shrader, Citizen Stu- dent. Shane Shrader, a 16-year old 11th grader, lives on Holly St in Trucksville. His parents are Christopher and Linda Shrader, and he has a brother, Jesse. For the past three school years, Shane has been in the Fall Play and the Stage Crew, ‘where he was Lighting Chief this fall; Drama Club, and Brain Chal- ‘lenge. Shane was on the track team in 9th grade, played volley- “ball in 10th, and this year is on the swim team; he also was in- volved in Survival Skills in 10th grade. When not in school, Shane took partin the Riverside Rumble, volunteers, for Vision and Show- case Theater 2000, and he works as acaddy at the Huntsville Coun- try Club. In addition, Shane re- cently completed his Eagle Scout project. He enjoys hiking, biking, snow skiing, canoeing, and ar- chery. : 9 Dallas, PA Wednesday, December 20, 2000 11 Timothy Faneck, Achiever ' Student. Timothy Faneck, a 16- year old in 11th grade, lives on Greenpond Rd. in Shavertown. His parents are Robert and Jeanne Faneck, and he has two | brothers, Jeffrey and Michael § Faneck. : His school activities include the Stu- dent Advisory Council, Steering, Knowledge Bowl, math Junior ‘competitions, Student Council, and the soccer team; he also plays soccer and referees outside of school, and this year was on the All State Team, while last year he was Second Team All-Conference. Timothy has also participated in the Riverside Rumble Wheelchair Race, was an American Red Cross blood drive volunteer, and is an altar server at his church. He has made First Honors consistently for the past three years. Timothy likes playing sports and video games, and his hobby is history. The Dallas Post Lake-Noxen Elementary honor roll.
