The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, November 22, 2000 7 i | Thanksgiving is a uniquely American holiday. It began in 1621, when William Bradford, governor of the Plymouth colony, appointed a day for feasting and thanksgiving after the Pilgrims survived their first harsh New England winter. The holiday reminds us to this day that we share the legacy of those first settlers, and that we should never forget how MR. AND MRS. GREGORY KUTZ ; : fortunate we are. As you gather with family Laurie D. Barna becomes and friends, you might want to recall our good fortune, bride of Grego I'y O. Kutz beginning that fall 379 years ago and continuing to this day. Together, we have become a great nation and for that we can all be thankful. Laurie Dawn Barna, daughter of Roger J. and Diane Barna, Dallas, and Gregory Owen Kutz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon R. & Kutz Jr., Mountaintop, were united in marriage on September 8, 2000. The evening ceremony was performed by the Rev. Robb Henderson. Mrs. Kutz is the granddaughter of Marlin Reese and the late Elmer Reese, Dallas; and of Sophia Barna and the late Joseph Barna, Wilkes-Barre. Mr. Kutz is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon R. Kutz Sr., Mountaintop, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Martin. The bride was given in marriage by her father, and chose her friend Kathleen Harkins as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Debra Cyprich, aunt of the bride, Catherine D'Anca, friend of the bride, and Tiffany Cyprich, cousin of the bride. Ashley Carle and & Janelle Cyprich, cousins of the bride, served as flower girls. Best man was Eric Kutz, brother of the groom. Ushers were Gordon Kutz III, brother of the groom, Robert Barna, brother of the bride, and Christopher Barna, brother of the bride. Chad Martin, cousin of the groom, served as ring bearer. A formal cocktail hour and dinner reception were held following American Re d Cross the ceremony at the Woodlands Inn and Resort, Wilkes-Barre. Give blood The Back Mountain communities will sponsor a blood drive the day after Thanksgiving, to make it easy for you to be a “holiday hero” to someone who needs blood. Blood supplies are still at very low levels, and Thanksgiving 1s the most traveled holiday weekend. Highway and other accidents have the potential to wipe out our currently low supplies. What are you thankful for this year? If good health is one of your blessings, please share it with those less fortunate.
