SPORTS ROUNDUP BOYS SOCCER Lake-Lehman 10, Pittston Area 1 Ten goals in the first half gave the Black Knights a blowout victory over Pittston Area last Tuesday at home. The 10-0 lead at intermission gave Lake-Leh- man the opportunity to play strictly a ball-control game in the second half. Junior midfielder David Walter had two goals and two assists in the game, open- ing the scoring in the very first minute of the game. Tyler Van Scoy also had two goals in the game, coming in the 10th and 15th minutes of play. Craig Kasper was the third Black Knight to find the back of the net twice. Steve Moyer scored the second goal of the game and then later assisted on two scores. TJ Doughtery was the final multiple-point person for Lake-Lehman, scoring in the 16th minute and assisting on a goal later in the half. Mike Niezgoda and Josh Johnson (pen- alty kick) scored the remaining two goals. Roger Vhral and Dan Fuhr combined to make seven saves in net for Lake-Leh- man. Dallas 5, Crestwood 0 Goalkeeper Nate Hoffman stopped all six Comet shots on goal to earn the shutout. Ricky Branco took part on every goal, assisting on the first goal of the game and then scoring the final four, three of which were unassisted. Paul Shiber scored the opener in the third minute off an assist from Branco and Tim Faneck. Branco then scored off a pass from Eric Baltimore in the 33rd minute, giving Dallas a 2-0 halftime lead. In the second half Branco scored three times, all unassisted. Lake-Lehman 1, Crestwood 1 (OT) Crestwood scored a goal in the second half on Thursday to earn a tie against Lake-Lehman. Steve Moyer scored unas- sisted in the 25th minute of the first half to give the Black Knights the lead after one half of play. The Comets did not get many shots on goal in the game (five), but were able to tally as many goals as Lake- Lehman to earn the tie. Goalkeeper Roger Vhrel made four saves in net. Dallas 2, Berwick 0 The Mountaineers earned their third straight shutout in defeating Berwick 2- See ROUNDUP, pg 10 Local pro/ladies teams tie for 2nd Mixed teams of club pros and women from Irem Temple Country Club and Huntsville Golf Club posted the second low net score in the Northeastern PA Women’s Golf Ass'n Pro/Lady Tourna- ment, held at Irem. The Irem team of Paul Roman (pro), G. Killeen, B. Choi and D. Kocik fired a net 58, as did the Huntsville team of Sean Whitelavich (pro), S. Ertley, S. Smulowitz and S. Strausser. The Irem team of Bill Ramakus (pro), S. Koo, J. Lloyd and L. DeGennaro finshed a stroke back. Ramakus tied for the third low gross score by a pro. GOH tournament The Gate of Heaven School Athletic Committee will hold their annual golf tournament Sunday, Oct. 8, at Four Sea- sons Golf Club, Exeter. The S55 per person fee includes 18 holes, cart, lunch, dinner and prizes. Lunch will be at noon, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Children over 6 years may enter, if playing with their parents. The Mounts scored twice in the quarter, then added a field goal and another TD.
