Our seniors, the Class of 2001, take center stage as we plan our senior meetings. Each senior and their parents received a letter in August to set up a meeting with their counselor to do a credit check for graduation and talk about post secondary school plans. Some late afternoon and early evening dates are available, so if you have not responded, please contact our of- fice at 674-7218. If you have al- ready responded by mail, we will contact you shortly with a date and time. Several important dates regard- ing standardized tests should be noted. The deadline for postmarked registration for the SAT to be given at Dallas on Saturday, November 4, is September 29. You may ob- tain a registration bulletin in the Guidance Office. The PSAT will be given at Dallas on Saturday, Octo- ber 21. This test is highly recom- mended for college bound juniors and should be taken before the SAT. The PSAT: is also the test used to determine National Merit Scholarship semi-finalists and fi- nalists. The cost of this test is $9.50. Checks should be made payable to Dallas High School, the deadline is October 2. The NEDT test is once again L-J PTA Tea night is September 13 The Lehman-Jackson Elementary PTA will be starting out the new school year with their annual "Tea Night" on September 13, at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria. being offered to all sophomores and freshmen. The test will be held on Wednesday, October 4. The cost of the NEDT is S10, and checks should be made payable to Dallas High School. The deadline is September 27. Most colleges suggest that students take the NEDT twice (9th and 10th grade). PSAT in the junior year (fall) and the SAT nor more than three times beginning in the spring of the jun- ior year. The Guidance Office is round- ing up volunteers for the Riverside Rumble 10K World Wheelchair Champion Road Race to be held Sunday, September 10. You will be given instructions, placement, equipment and t-shirts upon your arrival. Over 175 parents and students have signed up yearly in the past to represent Dallas High School. Back To School Night will be held on Wednesday, September 13 at 7 p.m. This evening provides an excellent opportunity to open the lines of communication between the home and the school. After some brief opening remarks, par- ents will proceed to follow their son/daughter's schedule for four periods to meet with their child's teachers. A bake sale will be held during the Back To School Night. PTA President Anne Cornell and the current board invites all concerned parents, grandparents, and family members to come meet the current PTA Committee Chairpersons, ask questions and find out about our programs and activities for the 2000-2001 school year. There are over 30 committees this year and volunteers are always being sought to help at some of the PTA sponsored school functions such as assemblies, holiday programs, basketball and reading pro- grams.
