Michael Joseph Yenason becomes Eagle Scout Michael Joseph Yenason, a member of Troop 155 in Trucks- ville, was recently awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable from the Boy Scouts of America. The formal presentation of the badge took place at an Eagle Court of Honor on August 27, at Genetti's Hotel and Convention Center, Wilkes- Barre. For his Eagle project, Yenason constructed a handicap accessible campsite at Moon Lake Park in Luzerne County. He organized the project design, the collection of donations, and supervised vol- unteers in the construction of the project. Yenason, the son of Joseph and Mary Ann Yenason of Dallas, has been in scouting since 1991, when he joined as a Tiger Cub. Meadows Center honors student volunteers The Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas presented their teen volunteers with "Kindness Awards" at the recent Pizza Party and Awards Ceremony held in their honor. Homeschooled and students from Dallas, Lake Lehman, Gate of Heaven, Wyoming Seminary, and Bishop O'Reilly partici- pated. During the past year, teens have donated over 1,500 hours of kindness, caring and service to residents at the center. Receiving awards for donating the most hours during the summer teen program were : Emily Nagy, Dallas, 175 hours; Stacey Fox, Shavertown, 59 hours; and Katie Cilvik, Dallas, 54 hours. Teens honored for having the most hours of continuous service were, Kristy Ford, Harveys Lake, 282 hours; Amy Pack, Shavertown, 144 hours; and Michelle Mancke, Dallas, 112 hours. In May 1996, Yenason joined Boy Scout Troop 155, in which he achieved the ranks of Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star Scout, Life Scout, and Eagle Scout. He has earned 36 merit badges. During his participation in Troop 155, he has served as Troop Li- brarian, Troop Guide, Assistant Patrol Leader, and Patrol Leader. This summer he also worked as a merit badge counselor at the BSA at Dallas High School, is a mem- ber of its golf, wrestling, and base- ball teams. He is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and has been active with the Student Council and the Dallas High School Student Advisory Council.
