Wyoming Area 6, Dallas 1 Wyoming Area swept doubles and won three of the four singles matches to earn a win on its home courts. The lone winner for the Mountaineers was John Bebures ati#4 singles. He won in three sets by scores 6-1, 2-6, 6-4. Crestwood 6, Dallas 1 Dallas again could only muster one win in falling to Crestwood on Friday afternoon. This time the singles layers got swept though, as the win came in doubles. Sophomores Ricky Branco and Ryan Rother won at #2 with scores 6-2, 7-5. BOYS TRACK Lehman 99, Bishop Hoban 50 Twelve first place finishes ~~ helped the Knighs defeat Hoban in track action Friday. Mark Chmura won the 100 hurdles, triple jump, and long jump events to earn triple-winner status. DJ Harris also turned in a great per- formance, finishing first place in both the 400 dash and in the 800 run, and being runner-up in the triple jump. Harris also ran the final leg of the winning 1600 relay team consisting also of Aaron Kubasik, Brink, and Josh Kuwaye. Kubasik’s day also included be- ing part of the winning 400 relay team and finishing third in the long jump and 200 dash events. Kuwaye was also on the 400 relay champs and third in the 100 dash. Brink too was on the winning 400 relay team and also took second in the 100 hurdles, the 100 dash, and the 200 dash. Healy won the high jump, took second in the long jump, and finished third in the 300 hurdles. Other winners include TJ Dougherty in the 3200 run, Travis McRoy in the shotput, and Brian Nolar in the javelin. Coughlin 98, Dallas 51 Coughlin was able to defeat Dallas in a track meet last week. Despite Dallas earning five of eleven first place finishes, Coughlin still won by a comfort- able margin. Justin Taminini had two of those first place finishes in the shotput and discus events. In those same events, Matt Carey took second and third respectively to earn some more points. Chris Pratz finished third in the shotput as Dallas swept and runner-up in the javelin. Matt Schweitzer placed twice, winning the 3200 run and finishing second to Peter Miller of Dallas in the 1600 run. Matt Acri took runner-up in both the 100 dash and the 200 dash. Matt Mark took second in the 400 dash. Lee Griffin was third place in the 800 run and second in the pole vault. Erich Mahle won the 800 run. GIRLS TRACK Coughlin 105, Dallas 31 Dallas won just three events as Coughlin destroyed Dallas in track action last week. Kendall Santarelli won the javeiln, took second in the shotput, and fin- ished third in the discus in being the bright spot for the Mountain- eers in the field events. Randa Shahin and Amie Tkaczyk each took first in one event and second in another, providing for the re- maining two individual victories. Shahin won the 100 hurdles and took second in the 300 hurdles, while Tkaczyk won the 3200 run and was runner-up in the 1600 Yiy. SOFTBALL Dallas 7, Crestwood 1 The Lady Mountaineers avenged their only loss of the sea- son, exploding for four runs in the second inning and cruising to vic- tory. Sarah Stolarick went the distance, allowing six hits and striking out four. She also went 2- for-2 at the plate, including a double. Rachel Kukosky slammed a triple that drove in two runs, while Carrie Strasser and Sherri Kuderka also hit doubles. Dallas 8, Meyers 2 The Mountaineers scored five runs between the third and fifth innings to distances themselves from the Mohawks in softball ac- tion last week. Teams each put up two-run opening innings be- fore Dallas outscored Meyers 6-0 the rest of the way. Winning pitcher Sarah Stolarick pitched all seven innings to earn the win. She allowed three hits and three walks while striking out another three. Offensively, Sherri Kuderka hit a home run and two triples in four at-bats to lead the way. Fel- low senior Stephanie Simonitis collected three singles in three official at-bats to assist Kuderka’s awesome display of power. Dallas 2, Nanticoke Area 0 The Mountaineers scored single runs in both the third and sev- enth innings in defeating the Tro- jans on Friday afternoon in Nanticoke. Winning pitcher Sa- rah Stolarick struck out six and gave up just two hits in earning the complete game mound win. Dodgers 10, Giants 8 The Dodgers withstood a spir- ited Giants comeback as thirdbaseman Mike Davies snared a bases-loaded line drive with 2 out in the 6th inning in an early- season matchup of National League powers. Mike Dougherty led the Dodgers offense with 2 hits. Ronnie Shiner got the vic- tory. David Harding and Nick Samanas each crushed a home run for the Giants. Harding also collected a single. Eric Domzalski smacked a triple and Mike Zaleskas cracked a double in a losing cause. Giants 18, Astros 0 David Harding blasted 2 more home runs for the Giants in pow- ering their victory over the Astros. He was joined by Eric Domzalski, who cracked his first homer of the young season. Domzalski picked up 9 strikeouts during his time on the mound.
