The Dallas Post Dallas, PA = Wednesday, April 19, 2000 11 Wycallis Geography Bee winners Wycallis Elementary School has announced the school winners of the National Geographic Geography Bee. Sem students excel in science Michael Davies and Shaudi Hosseini, Dallas, seniors at Wyo- ming Seminary, participated in the Pennsylvania Junior Science and Humanities Symposium, March 12-14 at Pennsylvania State University, State College. In order to enter the competi- tion, each student prepared a manuscript outlining his or her original research or proposal, which was submitted for review by the selection committee. Each Seminary student who proposed a manuscript was se- lected for the symposium of 80 students. Davies placed first in the ecol- ogy seminar, and Hosseini earned first place in the mathematics seminar and second place over all in the entire Symposium. Dallas Elementary will hold science expo Plan to attend the fifth annual Dallas Elementary School Science Expo to be held on Wednesday, April 12, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The projects submitted to the science expo by students in kindergarten through fifth grade will be on dis- play in the gymnasium of the el- ementary school. Sem musicians earn honors Wyoming Seminary student Phillip Oh, Dallas, qualified for District Orchestra. Ben Rogers, Trucksville, was selected as a member of the Luzerne County Honor Band. Paul Santarelli, and Deirdre McLaughlin, Dallas were selected to the District Chorus. Kevin Rowland earns dean's list status Kevin Rowland. of Dallas, has , been named to the dean's list for the second quarter at Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology. A Freshman student in the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, Kevin is studying Industrial De- sign. He is the son of Mitch and Marie Rowland and is a 1999 graduate of a homeschool pro- gram.
