Dr. Anthony Liuzzo, associ- ate professor, Business Admistration at Wilkes, recently had his paper “Measuring the Value of an Ani- mal Life: Eco- nomic and Legal Perspectives,” published in the Fall 1999 Penn- sylvania Eco- nomic Review. Ra In the paper's abstract, Liuzzo states that both federal and state courts have historically demon- strated confusion and inconsis- tency in awarding damages in law- suits which allege economic losses resulting from damage to animals. The injustice that follows is in large part the result of a lack of a clear economic conceptualization of how and towhat extent animals are distinct from other forms of personal property. Liuzzo received a B.S. in Mar- keting from Fordham University, a J.D. from St. John’s University, and an M.B.A., a master’s degree in Philosophy and a Ph.D. from New York University.
