Helping out on the defense were Dianna Morgan, and Cecilia and Courtney Besecker. Gilroy Realty 8, Rosenn Jenkins & Greenwald 7 Gilroy Realty held on for the win in a close game. Gilroy was lead by Erin Delaney with 6 points, followed by Abigail Mulhern with 2 points. Playing a tough defense were Bethany Mulhern and Molly Gilligan. Leading the way for Rosenn were Kristen and Katherine O’Brien with 4 and 3 points respectively. Erica Mor- gan and Hillary Schaub played a great defensive game. SPORTS ROUNDUP } ® GIRLS SWIMMING Abington Heights 106, Dallas 80 Dallas fought hard in its clos- est decision of the year but still fell to the Comets on the road last Monday afternoon. Erin Allardyce took first victories in the 100 Breast and 100 Fly competitions. Cheryl Kirkwood took first in the 200 IM and second behind Allardyce in the 100 Fly for Dal- las. Abbie Pisacano took runner- up honors in both the 200 Free and 100 Free. Erin Cooper cap- tured the diving title, followed by Colleen Murphy. Berwick 122, Dallas 62 The Bulldogs cruised to a win in their home pool against the Mountaineers last Tuesday. Erin Allardyce and Shannon Gaffney each took first place in one event and runner-up in another. Allardyce was victorious in the 100 Breast and was second in the 200 IM. For the Mountaineers, Matt Schweitzer registered first place titles in the 200 IM and 100 Fly events. Cory Pajka finished sec- ond in the 100 Breast and third in the 200 IM. Dallas 97, Berwick 65 Matt Schweitzer’s pair of titles led Dallas to a win over Berwick last week. He was best in the 200 Gtrr and in the 100 Free. Carl Wilcox took first place in the 500 Free and second in the 200 IM. Corey Pajka won the 100 Breast for Dallas and took third in the 200 IM. GIRLS BASKETBALL Dallas 53, Berwick 45 Dallas outscored Berwick in the second half by a 29-20 margin to earn a come-from-behind win on the road last Monday evening. Jennifer Noon led all scorers in the game with 25 points. Team- mate Jeannie Dreier added 12 points. Stephanie Simonitis and Rachel Kukosky combined for 11 poins. Coughlin 60, Dallas 56 The Crusaders outscored the Mountaineers by a 34-18 margin during the middle two quarters as they earned the victory in the opening game of the Munley Tour- nament played at Crestwood High School Monday night. Stephanie Simonitis was a big presence for Dallas inside, scoring 19 points. Rutgers-bound Jenn Noon added 17 points, while Jeannie Dreier added seven. Pittston 49, Lake-Lehman 42 The Black Knights kept the game close throughout the entire four periods of play but could not capture the lead down the stretch. Danielle Kern and Kari Maskalis each finished with a dozen points to lead the Knights offense. Jen Frank and Kieran Lucarino each added five points in the defeat. Lake-Lehman 47, Lackawanna Trail 35 Danielle Kern and Kieran Lucarino combined for 34 points, one shy of the team total for Lackawanna Trail, as Lehman won in Factoryville Monday night. Kern finished with 19 while Lucarino added 15. Jen Frank added nine points in the victory. BOYS BASKETBALL Berwick 48, Dallas 34 Dallas managed just one quar- ter of double-digit points as Berwick remained unbeaten in league play. Dallas falls to 0-3. Chuck Suppon was the high man for the Mountaineers, netting 14 in all. Jay Carroll was next with seven, followed by Matt Jackson with six. Pittston Area 80, Lake-Lehman 73 (OT) Lehman played its heart out by outscoring the Patriots 26-11 in the fourth quarter but could not hang on in the overtime session. FALL ALL-STAR SELECTIONS Field Hockey Janelle Perlis of Lake-Lehman High School was recently selected as a member of the second team All-American squad for field hockey. The senior forward battled back to have a fantastic season after a devastating injury that made her miss nearly a year. Fellow Black Knight senior Rachel Kasper joins Perlis on" the first team All-State for Class AA. Alyson Bevan, Melissa DeCesaris, and goalie Janel Janiczek from Lake- Lehman each made second hon- ors All-State in addition to Moun- taineer forward Jennifer Noon.
