The Kingston Township Police Department, in conjunction with the National Night Out Program, will present a Public Safety Aware- ness Night on Tuesday, August 3 from 6 and 10 p.m. The event will be held in the pavilion and parking area of Cen- ter Street Park on East Center Street in Shavertown. Prater named outstanding pianist Brittany Prater, age 10 of Dallas, was recently awarded “ Outstanding Pianist 1999” at the annual recital of Michele Millington held at Wilkes University. Brittany has participated in the Pennsylvania Music Teachers association local and state festivals National Piano Playing Audiions for the past six years. ‘She also participated in i Concerto Program for the past two years sponsored by Northeast Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association and has performed recently at a Masters Class. Brittany is currently a piano student of Michele Millington, and a fifth grader at the Dallas Elementary School. BMT Children's Theatre holding open auditions Back Mtn. Childrens Theatre Company will host Summer The- atre Workshop and Production Program. All young people aged 7 to 15 are invited to audition on Thursday, July 29 at 10 a.m. in Trucksville at the studios of Ma- jor Performing Arts Center. Work- shop/Production rehearsals be- gin August 2. The group will meet twice each week during August, weekdays mornings, to prepare for performances of “The Three Little Pigs Go West” Dates for Week Four will be announced later so as to cause no conflicts with the restart of school. Per- formance dates for "The Three Little Pigs Go West” are Sunday, August 29 and Sunday, Sept. 12. There are excellent parts for all ages 7 to 15 years, approx. 15 lead speaking roles. Parents will be asked to assist youngest children fill out registration papers at this time. No experience is required. Each young actor auditioning for a lead role will be asked to read from a script and sing a familiar song. All lead roles have speaking lines and sing and dance. All minor roles sing and dance. Community Counseling Services of N.E. PA is recruiting volunters for the Senior Peer Counseling Program in Wyoming and Luzerne Counties. This program provides one-to-one supportive counseling to senior citizens who are confined to their homes or who don't feel comfortable in a traditional mental health setting. Volunteers should be 55 years of age or older, able to devote three hours a week, have good listening skills and enjoy relating to new people. Training is provided.
