Each classmate received a 1949 silver half dollar and a booklet commemorating the 50th reunion. The booklet’s cover depicted a scottie dog, which was Lehman’s mascot. Table decorations were red and white flowers in cobalt blue vases. Lehman's colors were red and blue. Entertainment for the evening was Lehman cheers and songs, led by former cheerleaders, Joyce Adams Thomas, Mary Dargoy Maher, and Joan Coolbaugh Britt. The event was followed by a breakfast the next morning at Picketts Charge. The reunion was chaired by Joan Coolbaugh Britt and co-chaired by Janet Wright Eddy and-Mary Dargoy Maher. SHAKERS Elly Miller of Shavertown, ma- jor gifts/planned giving officer at Luzerne County Community Col- lege, recently re- ceived the Ameri- can Business Women’s Asso- ciation Wyoming Valley Chapter Community Woman of the Year Award for’ 1999. : Miller is a founding Board mem- ber of the PA Distance Education Consortium and a Board member - of the tri-state Consortium of Dis- tance Education (CODE). Sheisa member of the advisory board of the Diversity Institute at College Misericordia and the Board of Jewish Family Services. She is a member of and previously served as president of the board of Emer- gency Medical Services of North- eastern PA and the Domestic Vio- lence Service Center. Miller is a member of the Peace Center and previously served as chairperson of its steering community. Miller received the Leadership Wilkes-Barre Alumni Distin- guished Leadership Award in 1997 and the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce Athena Award in 1998. She also received the Pathfinder Award from the Wyoming Valley Women’s Network in 1992; was selected as the re- cipient of the Outstanding Ad- ministrator Award at LCCC for 1994-95; and received a citation of distinction from the Wyoming Valley Interfaith Council in 1996. Miller resides in Shavertown with her husband, Murray.
