Born October 15, 1937 in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late George and Sara (Jennings) Matthews. She was a graduate of Kingston High School. -She was employed by Sunshine Market in Wilkes- Barre ang! 1989. Born in Shamokin, she was a daughter of the late Charles R. and Amanda (Farnsworth) Reed. She attended schools and resided in Sunbury until moving to Dallas in 1994. In association with her hus- band, the late Daniel A. Haas, she operated the Haas Gift Shop in Sunbury for 20 years. They re- ceived special recognition from the National Gift and Art Buyers magazine for encouraging brides to register their gifts of choice. Later, she was employed at the Selinsgrove Center, where she did therapeutic work. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Northumberland, the Soroptomists, and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 506 in Sunbury, and was the past presi- dent of the Sunbury Business and Professional Women. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Vaughn. Surviving are her son, Charles R., Richmond, VA; daughter, Joyce L. Culver, Tunkhannock; brother, Lamar, Numidia; sister, Marion Eberhart, Hagerstown, MD; eight grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. She worked as a librarian in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and then at the Dallas Community Library before she retired. She attended Dallas United Methodist Church.
