JT Vol. Fire Dept. fund drive underway The 1999 fund drive for the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department is now underway. Carl Moyer has been selected to serve as the chairman for this year. The fund drive is the only appeal that we ask the taxpayers of the township to support. Our members are committed to provide you with quality emergency services. It is through the generosity of the Jackson Township residents that keep this volunteer organization a well equipped and efficient fire department, but we need more donations. Geranium sale aids Victims' Resource Ctr The Victims Resource Center, which provides a variety of services to victims of violent crime in Luzerne and Wyoming Counties, has launched its Annual Geranium Sale. The geranium was selected by VRC for this annual fund raiser because of its hardiness and ability to produce flowers of striking beauty in the face of harsh weather and other adversity. The flowers are locally grown and are available in red and pink. The cost is $2 each and the deadline for placing orders is Friday, April 23. Plants will be ready for pick-up on Thursday, May 6. Tomascik, a fifth grade student at Sue Hand's ry Imagery, Dallas, has recently been named the recipient of the Hank Doran Memorial Art Award Art Student of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Sponsored by Beth and Dick Dearden, the award was given to R.J. has studied art with Sue Hand for the past 5 1/2 years. He has won numerous awards for his artwork and exhibits regularly. He works in ink, colored pencil, watercolor, mixed media, gouache, acrylic, graphite and pastel. Besides art, RJ enjoys playing baseball and soccer.
