Top sell- ing fundraiser participants in each grade walked away with a king-size stuffed bear, an ice cream sundae party, and nu- merous other prizes. The majority of the funds will go towards this year’s field trips to places like Historic Gettysburg and Philadelphia. Another benefit will be assem- blies throughout the year such as programs put on by the Franklin Institute and the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble. Fundraiser money also isused for other functions that some- ‘dents and the PTA get together times go unnoticed. Some of the funds will be used for programs like the Sum- mer Reading Program, 5th and 6th grade Basketball, a RIF (Reading Is Fundamental) pro- gram that encourages students to want to read, and a “White Christmas” program where stu- to make food baskets for needy families in the school district. Lake-Lehman Pre-school Program announced Robert Kunkle and Dave McLaughlin-Smith Elementary Principals for the Lake-Lehman School District, announce the Pre- School Program for parents and pre-school (4 year old) children for the 1998-99 school year. The third installment of Lake- Lehman's Early Childhood /Pre- school Program is scheduled for Feb. 16, 7, and 18, and will fea- ture “Nutrition and Health”, along with an explanation of kindergar- ten screening procedures. Faculty from each building will conduct the Nutrition and Health presentation. Separate activities including storytime, games, ¢rafts and snacks are scheduled for the chil- dren at each elementary school. Elizabeth Clay makes honor roll Elizabeth Clay, a native of Dallas, has been named to The University of Tulsa President's Honor Roll. A freshman majoring in mechanical engineering, Clay received the honor for earning a 4.0 grade point average during the fall 1998 semester in TU’s College of Engineering and Natural Sciences. BMT graduate from Wilkes University Wilkes University President Dr. Christopher N. Breiseth conferred 148 graduate and undergraduate degrees at the University’s Annual Winter Commencement which was held on Jan. 14.
