The event was originally scheduled for Friday, which is National Hat Day, but the ok weather forced a postponement. After showing off their creations to teachers and classmates, the children paraded around the school to let the rest of the classes in on the fun. Weaver is semi-finalist for Coca-Cola scholarship Kenneth Michael Weaver, of Lake-Lehman High School has been selected from over 137,000 applicants nationwide as semifi- nalists in the 1998-99 Coca-Cola Scholars Program. He ranks among nearly 2,000 seniors who are in the running for $1.4 million in college scholar- ships being awarded by the Coca- Cola Scholars Foundation. Stu- dents are selected to advance to this phase based on the level of excellence, leadership and achievement demonstrated in school and community activities. This year is the 11th year Coca- Cola will be awarding scholar- ships, providing a total of $15.2 million to assistance students nationwide. As semifinalists, students must submit additional information which will be reviewed in Febru- ary by a committee comprised of 21 educators from high schools and universities throughout the United States. If advanced, Weaver will be among of 151 Fi- nalists who will travel to Atlanta April 22-25, 1999 to attend the Coca-Cola Scholars Weekend: During their visit they will attend a final interview process which will determine whether they are designated as either a National or Regional Scholar. The 51 Na- tional Scholars will each receive a four-year $20,000 renewable scholarship award. Regional Scholars will receive a four-year $4,000 renewable scholarship.
