Lake-Lehman freshmen's float earns first The freshman class of Lake-Lehman High captured first place in the Annual Float competition held recently at Homecoming. Class President Casey Holcomb commented, “This year’s theme was Disney. All classes displayed great spirit and ingenuity with their entries.” Several freshmen were attired as Mouseketeers from the well-known television show and presented bits of live entertainment for the judges. The large float featured a huge Mickey Mouse head, an arch of over 100 balloons, huge logo and a costumed, live Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Class advisor is Gail Meeker. Freshmen were also entertained with a bonfire party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Lewis of Lehman. DHS marching band wins 1st for percussions | The Dallas High School marching band competed in the Tournament of Bands Atlantic Coast championships at Lackawanna County Stadium November 15. High school bands appearing in the Atlantic Coast Championships have qualified by competing in their Chapter Championships. The 25 highest scoring bands within a group from all Tournament of Bands are invited. Dallas, representing Chapter VII Group | were finalist in their division, scoring 85.75 and placed first for the Best Percussion among the bands from the nine states represented in the tournament. Dallas High School Band presented their rendition of Channel One Suite by Bill Reddie and made famous by the Buddy Rich Band. The Dallas band is under the direction of Todd Hunter and the music was arranged by Dave Gambel who also directs the percussion unit.
