They were scheduled to meet the Red Sox Tuesday night, weather permitting, in the playoff championship game. Results were not available in time for this issue. Heather Fenaughty was backing up the play. { Phillies win championship behind Kapitula's 16 k's Mark Kapitula fired a no-hit- ter, striking out 16 batters, as the Phillies won Back Mountain Base- ball Inc.’s Major League champi- onship with an 8-0 win over the Yankees Sunday night. The Phillies jumped out to a 3- 0 lead in the first, and added two more runs in the second. The Yankees didn’t have a base run- ner until the third inning when Mark Koval walked. But he was tagged out at second attempting to steal. Frank Buzin walked with two out in the fourth, the only other Yankee to reach base. On Friday, the Phillies won the National League championship with a 15-2 victory over the Reds, while the Yankees won the Ameri- can League title, 7-4 over the Rang- ers. The Phillies won their second consecutive championship and have won 46 consecutive games dating back to the 1996 season. Kapitula struck out the side in the first, second, fifth and sixth in- nings to earn the victory. Eric Feinstein and Kapitula had two hits apiece in the champion- ship game, while Mike Wills added a double. BASEBALL 9 and 10 YEAR OLD ALL-STARS Back Mountain National 20, Hanover 0 David Harding and Matt Kapitula tossed a combined no- hitter and Gracjan Kraszewski smacked a single, double, triple, and home run to hit for the cycle as Back Mountain National over- whelmed Hanover in the North- west Tournament. Eric Domzalski and Nathan Carr each had 3 hits while Ben Thomas and Kapitula had 2 apiece. Ron Shiner and Thomas each tripled for manager Tom Dougherty’s team. Basketball camp at King S The third annual “Jim Casciano Basketball Camps” will be held on the campus of King’s College this summer. Both camps will be directed by Casciano, a collegiate coaching veteran of 22 years, who recently completed his second season as head men’s basketball coach at King's. The camps will be available in two separate sessions, July 27-31, and again from Aug. 3-7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, and are open to boys and girls ages 9-15.
