10 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, July 1, 1998 Time capsule holds Commonwealth centennial story Commonwealth Telephone Company, a business unit of Com- monwealth Telephone Enter- prises, Inc. (CTE), celebrated the close of its year-long centennial celebration on June 6 with a time capsule burial on the grounds of its headquarters building on Rt. 309 in Dallas. The contents of the time cap- sule included a telephone installer wiring kit; paper documents in- cluding current issues of the CTE employee and customer newslet- ters, recent CTE press clippings and the company’s 1997 annual report; local newspapers and na- tional magazines; videos of the company’s centennial celebration and other company-related items. The time capsule is slated to be opened on May 31, 2097, Comonwealth Telephone 200th birthday. Michael I. Gottdenker, CTE president and chief operating of- ficer, commented on the event. “We have had a quite remarkable history. Our company’s accom- plishments during its first 100 years are likely to be outdone only by its accomplishments during its second century,” he said. “I'm certain that the employes of this company who open our time cap- sule in the year 2097 will be ommonwealt nte and the industry advanced in our second century.” Commonwealth Telephone Company was founded in 1897 onafarmin Centermoreland when rpr from left, Mike Loftus, vice president, Commonwealth Communications; Don Cawley, vice president and controller; Joe Martin, director of human resources; Michael |.
