That's the advice she would give a younger student. “It does wonders for your self- esteem. It's nice to say that you tried your best. The more you do, the more doors open up for you,” said Vodzak, who will attend Wilkes University and MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine at Allegheny University, to which she was given early acceptance. Because he took many honors courses, his average is above 4.0. Williams said school has always been a breeze for him. “I tend to learn things rather easily and I have ood memory,” said Williams, who will attend Duke University to study engineering. Williams said he was self-moti- vated and did not rely on guid- ance from his parents. “I strive to do as well as I can.” He looks forward to college for the mental challenge he’s lacked in high school. “I haven't really been challenged here,” he ex- plained. Williams agrees with Vodzak that keeping on top of academics will leave all your options open and even add some more. “Doing well opens a lot of opportunities. If you do well in school you can pretty much do whatever you want and make your life whatever you want it to be,” he said. He said it was tough to stay on . the high end of the top 10. “This class is really tight. Separation in the grade point averages is so tight,” said Steltz, who plans to attend Penn State University at University Park. “I wish to earn a career in an engineering research and devel- opment field. I want to always keep my job interesting and novel, and research on new projects is an ideal position forme,” he wrote for career goal. Steltz said he does not have difficulties with many subjects, only that there are some he likes more than others. Frank Galicki, Dallas High School principal, is extremely impressed by this group of stu- dents and the senior class as a whole. “This class is one of the brightest and best behaved group of people that I've come into con- tact with in quite a while. They are not only intelligent, but ma- ture. They are upwardly moti- vated, know what they want and realize how to get it,” he said.
