Sisters of Mercy elect new regional leadership team During formal Assembly held recently, the Sisters of Mercy, Dallas Regional Community, elected a new leadership team to a four-year term of office. The four-person team, which inclu des Srs. Catherine McGroarty (President) Mary Ellen Fuhrman (Vice-President), Marie Parker (Councilor), and Mayon Sylvain (Councilor), will begin this minis- try July 1. A native of Wilkes-Barre, Sr. Catherine McGroarty entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1965. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Wilkes- Barre. She currently serves as Dallas Regional Community Vice-Presi- dent. Prior to community service, Sr. Catherine ministered in health care, first in nursing and then in hospital administration. Sister Mary Ellen Fuhrman, a native of Steelton, PA, entered in 1965 upon graduation from Bishop McDevitt High School, Harrisburg. She presently serves on the Dallas Regional Commu- nity leadership team and as Di- rector of Development. Her ministry in education, both as teacher and principal, focused primarily on persons who are poor, particularly in Lancaster, PA and the South Bronx.. Sister Marie Parker entered the community in 1965 following graduation from St. Gabriel High School in Hazleton. She currently serves as Direc- tor of Continuing Education, Mercy Health Partners, Northeast Region. Sr. Marie served as teacher, principal and in formation of new members of the community. A native of Guyana, Sr. Mayon Sylvain entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1974.
