10 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, November 5, 1997 Playoffs "(continued from page 9) a typical Dallas/Lehman game,” he said. “It was a great, hard- fought game, a good, clean ri- valry.” While Jackson respects Wyo- ming Area, which beat Dallas 27- 17 for the Mounts’ only loss, he thinks Dallas should have won their first meeting. “Thisisa bunch of overachievers,” Jackson said of ~ his squad, which lost several key players to graduation. He said passing might be a factor in the rematch, with the Mounts taking to the air more than they have so far this season. Quarterback Bill Piasta threw only one pass Satur- day, but that resulted in a 37- yard touchdown to Eric White. Jackson, who is a GAR gradu- ate, has strong feelings about re- cent events at his alma mater. “I used to always root for GAR, ex- cept against us,” he said. “But I can't any more. I'm rooting. for Lehman.” PLAYOFF SCHEDULE Lake-Lehman @ GAR Fri., 7 p.m., NCES SETEER ET Tel y ERS eee [TV] DET EERCRIA oT 11113 e WAV (=Y:] Fri., 7 p.m., at Wyoming Area POST PHOTOS/CHARLOTTE BARTIZEK in a role reversal, Len Dorrance, Joe Kukosky and Rick Macri took up hte pom pons at the Dallas bonfire and pep rally Wednesday night. Fresh- man quarterback Brian Vetters spearheaded the Mount effort with two trips to the end zone. Roundup (continued from page 1) the second half but the Dallas defense dug deep to preserve the win. : Lehman 1, Dallas 0 The Knights earned their fifth district title in seven years follow- ing a 1-0 victory over Dallas Oct. 31. In a game with limited threats on the net (Lehman 5 shots on goal, Dallas 7) and corners (Dal- las 5, Lehman 2) both keepers felt the pressure to make the crucial stops. Knight Russ Mosier racked up five saves while John Fagan had one, but it was senior Jason Perlis who found the only hole after parlaying a pass from Mike Kostrobala for the game's decid- ing tally. Lehman now faces Dis- trict 3 runner up, Fleetwood Tues., Nov. 4. HOCKEY Lehman 3, Wyo. Seminary 2 The Lady Knights (17-1-1) cap- tured their third consecutive Dis- trict title following a 3-2 victory over Wyoming Seminary on Oct. 29. Seminary’s Chrissy Ashley opened the scoring in the first on an unassisted scorcher past keeper Joanne White. The Leh- man offense responded as Susie Walters tied the score off a pass from Janelle Perlis. Sarah Kasper increased the lead to 2-1 before the end of the half. In the second half Ashley again gave the Black Knights headaches with her sec- ond goal of the game, but Leigh Isaac turned the tide scoring the game winner with just over 8 min- utes left, assisted by Kasper. Lake-Lehman tuba players Chuck Boytin, left, and Danny Mariner did their best to liven things up on a dreary day. .
