Students should arrive by 8 a.m. They should bring two number two pen- cils, a calculator, their admission ticket and proper identification. Examples of proper identification are: driver's license with photo, valid passport with photo or a brief physical description of the student on school stationary (see your counselor if you need the latter form). Examples of unac- ceptable ID include social secu- rity cards, credit cards or a birth certificate. No student may take the test without proper ID and an admis- sion ticket. The test will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and end at :12:30 p.m: The PTSA is sponsoring a coat drive for the needy in the Back Mountain Sat., Nov. 1 at the Dal- las-Lehman football game. Coats will be collected at the gate outside the stadium. Help us help the needy stay warm this winter by donating a coat. A special thank you to Leigh Pawling for giving a presentation on Art as a Career as our October Speaker of the Month. Fri., Nov. 14, Albright College WON US WN Dallas students walk in Walktoberfest Recently members of the Dallas Middle School Student Council, and student body participated in the American Diabetes Association’s Walktoberfest. The students raised money for the association by walking around Harveys Lake. Participants were encouraged to raise funds through sponsorships from neighbors, family and businesses. Mr, Robert Burns Jr., co-chairperson for the recent event, addressed the council regarding the disease. Ms. Norine Amesbury, student council advisor, reported that the walk was a great success and over $600 was raised for the American Diabetes Association. Back row: Mr. Robert Burns Jr. Kenney is student worker of month Jessica Kenney of Dallas a senior at Susquehanna University, was selected as the Computing Services Student Worker of the Month for September. Kenney is employed as the genieral manager in charge of four computer labs at the university. In addition to supervising the student lab managers and lab monitors, she also works as a computing services technician. Besides her work in computing services, Kenney is also a member. of Psi Chi, a national psychology honor society, and the psychology club at Susquehanna University. A 1994 graduate of Lake-Lehman High School, Kenney is a psychol- ogy and sociology major and is the daughter of Shaun Kenney of Harveys Lake and Debra O’Mitty, of Florida. Enrichment program at Westmoreland The student body of Westmoreland Elementary school recently enjoyed an enrichment program presented by Daniel Barash, a member of the Slim Goodbody Corporation. Mr. Barash presented two separate programs for the students. The older students participated in the program “Attention to Prevention” which highlighted dealing with peer pressure and alcohol, cigarette, and drug prevention. The second program, for the younger students, was a lively musical health show, which included the proper care of their bodies through good nutrition and exercise. [.ehman-Jackson students create artwork for calendar At the beginning of every school year, the Lehman-Jackson Elementary PTA Calendars go out to all PTA members with a brand new cover. The PTA sponsors a Calendar Cover contest for all students in the 5th and 6th grade, and challenges them to try and come up with the most inventive Calendar cover- page in the school. The students try to convey some of the importance of the PTA in our school system, by utilizing the State PTA Theme of the year. The State Theme for 1997 is “Fitting The Pieces Together For Our Children.” The winner not only gets to see his or her winning picture on the front of this year's PTA calendar but also gets awarded a $50 bond.
