J _ ity educational C— The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, September 3, 1997 35 Dorcas Society to sponsor craft show The Dorcas Society of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Shavertown, will sponsor their 5th Annual Holiday Craft Show on Sat., Oct. 18, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the church social rooms. The event will feature many area and out-of-town crafters along with crafts donated by Dorcas members. There will be a bake sale including homemaderelishes, candy, etc. Refreshments will be available through- out the day including donuts and coffee plus a luncheon menu. There will also be a silent auction and raffle. Tickets for the raffle may be purchased in advance from any Dorcas member, they will be available the day of the Craft Show. There are still a few vendor spaces available. Eight foot tables will be supplied. Any vendor interested in applying for space at the show is asked to call 696-0106 or 675-3442. MOVERS AND SHAKERS Michael J. Raymond, Ph.D. Director of Neuropsychological/ Cognitive Services at Allied Ser- vices John Heinz Institute of Re- habilitation Medicine, Wilkes- Barre Twp., has recently been se- lected to present at two national conferences this fall. November 1- 4, Raymond will present a poster titled, “Recovery from . Traumatic Brain Injury: A Cognitive Rehabilitation Case Study,” at the Brain Injury Association’s 16th Annual Na- tional Symposium in Philadelphia. Lee Ann Davis, a cognitive thera- pist at the John Heinz Institute is co-contributor of the abstract. On November 12, Raymond will present at the 17th Annual Meet- ing of the National Academy of Neuropsychology, in Las Vegas, NV. He will give a presentation on the topic of, “Neuropsychological Consultation in Rehabilitation” and present a poster titled “Neu- ropsychological Dysfunction in a Mixed Dominant Patient follow- ing a Left Temporoparietal Ab- scess.” Raymond is a graduate of St. Francis Collge, Loretto, Pa, re- ceived a Master's Degree from the University of Scranton and re- ceived his Ph.D. from Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL. The Penn State University Board of Trustees recently an- nounced that Mary R. Ehret has been promoted from Associate Extension Agent to Extension Agent. This pros motion is the re- sult of consiszi tently high qual- programs over the previous six years. Since coming to Penn State in 1990, Ehret, a Registered Dieti- tian has been actively involved in nutrition education. She is the Supervising Home Economist for six Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program educators. The EFNEP program is a federally funded program designed to teach families and women how to get the most nutritious “bang” out of their food dollar. ‘Luzerne County has avery large elderly population which is at sig- nificant risk for chronic diseases and incidences of foodborne ill- ness. To address those issues, Ehret has developed and facili- tated food safety training certifi- cation programs for state agen- cies and food service profession- als. Ehret has received recognition from several professional organi- zations. She was awarded the Epsilon Sigma Phi, Pennsylvania Early Career Award. She was also the Young Dietitian of the Year and was presented the Anita Owen Award given by the National and Lecal American Dietetic Associa- tions. ‘ Ehret is a member of the na- tional, state and local American Dietetic Association and the Penn- sylvania Extension Association of Family and Consumer Science. She also serves on the Board for Directors of the East Mountain Child Care Center. Clements and daugh- ter Mary Jane. e000 Ellen Nagy, Dallas, recently was named to vice president at the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute (NRCI), Scranton. She formerly was the community edu- cation director for NRCI. Her new duties will include assisting the NRCI's Presi- dentin planning, developing and implementing NRCI policies, strategic plans and programs, in- cluding budgeting and funding, delegation of responsibilities, and staff development. Nagy is a graduate of Mansfield University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in English. She also has done post- graduate work at Mansfield Uni- versity, Pennsylvania State Col- lege, King's College and Wilkes University. Prior to her employment at NRCI she was director of commu- nity relations for the Visiting Nurse Association, Wilkes-Barre. Nagy has been involved with various community organizations. She is a member of the Dallas Area Federated Women’s Club, serving as president in 1988 and 1996 and also a member of the Dallas Area School Board for eight years, including a term as presi- dent.
