10 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, August 27, 1997 By MICHAEL TWICHELL Post Corresponent LEHMAN- With a grueling competition season looming ahead, the Lake-Lehman High School marching band com- menced their annual “band camp” last week, working through Saturday in order to put their 1997 field show together. This year’s show features music from “Riverdance.” “We're trying to expand both musically and visually from what we did last year,” said band director Edward A. Richards. Selections include; “Moon Harvest,” “Nova Scotia,” “Home in the Heartland,” “Fire Dance,” and “Riverdance Finale.” According to Richards “The music has a Celtic flavor to it, and we want to demonstrate the influence of Celtic music throughout the world.” The band began preparing this demonstration with Mon- day night rehearsals through June and July, two “mini” camps held at the end of June and end of July, and in August moved up to rehearsing three nights per week, ending with band camp. “The kids have been wonderful, and we've accomplished a lot so far,” said Richards. Richards wanted to thank the Lake-Lehman Band Spon- sors, “for all of the support they've given already, and all they have yet to give,” he said. The first public perfor- mance of the 1997 Lake- Lehman marching band will be at this coming weekend's season opening Lehman/ Riverside football game at home.
