White, Link .and their parents were guests of the Lions at a dinner meeting held at the Red Rooster Restaurant, Pikes Creek. Debbie earned “Stu- dent of the Quarter” while Matt earned the “Chemistry Student of the Year”. The students were presented with a monetary gift and certificates in recognition of outstanding school and commu- nity achievement. LOUIS KELLY ~ Louis M. Kelly, of Lacey, Wash., died July 12. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was son of the late Anna Mack Kelly and step-son of the late William Kelly. ~. He lived in Dallas throughout his early life and graduated as valedictorian of his class from Dallas High School. He served in the U.S. Navy dur- ing World War II and the Korean War. | Before retiring, he was em- ployed in law enforcement. Surviving are his former wife, Evalyn Sutton Kelly, Rockville, Md.; daughters Patricia Kelly, Olney, Md.; Evy Weaver, Peggy Donahue and Sherry Connell, all of Rockville, Md.; a son, L. Chuck Bruce, North Charleroi, Pa.; six grandchildren; stepchildren Donna Walker, Gaithersburg, Md.; three sisters. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery. DISTRICT COURT BRIEFS D.U.I CHARGES The following defendants waived their rights to preliminary hearings before District Justice James Tupper: * Robert Franklin Jr., 34, Dal- las, who was arrested on April 10 after Dallas Township chief Wayman Miers saw his vehicle weave across lanes on Rt. 309. After failing field sobriety tests, he refused to take a breath test to determine his blood alcohol level. Refusal to take a blood alcohol test results in a loss of driver's license for one year. e Steven Martin, 24, Dallas, who was arrested on May 18 after Lake Township patrolman John Masloski responded to a hit and run accident in which Martin al- legedly hit a mailbox on Crisman Rd. A blood test showed his blood alcohol level to be .154. ILLEGALLY OPERATING SNOWMOBILE Alexander Wilson Jr., 36, Noxen, waived his right to a pre- liminary hearing on a charge of illegally operating a snowmobile on the roadway. He was arrested by Lake Township patrolman John Fuches after he wrecked his snow- mobile at the intersection of Tulip Rd. and Halowich Rd. in Lake Twp. Wilson's snowmobile was not registered and was not in- spected. Wilson was driving down Halowich Rd. When he came to the end of it, he could not stop and fell over an eight-foot wall into a stream below. He was taken by helicopter to Geisinger Danville Hospital. A search warrant was issued to obtain a blood alcohol level, which was .184.
