Kubis field in Dallas. The winning run was scored with two outs in the bottom of the . sixth by Rachel Kukosky after she " hit a long triple to the fence in * right center field. After the throw ~ got away from the Nanticoke . catcher, Kukosky raced home for "the score. She was mobbed by her © teammates as they celebrated with her at home plate. Molly Guntli was the winning . pitcher, allowing only two hits over six innings while striking out eight. Guntli struggled with her control but pitched out of trouble in every inning, stranding 13 Nanticoke baserunners. Nanticoke started the scoring with a run in the first on a wild pitch. BMT, which had scored in the first inning in the five previous games, went down in order. Nanticoke added another run in the top of the second and a third run in the fourth. BMT finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth. Jaime Sickler started the inning with a single. Carla Chiampi put down a perfect bunt for another hit. After a wild pitch Kristen Clay, who ran for Sickler, scored the first run on a ground out by Meredith Lacey. Then Sam Lloyd walked and took off for sec- ond base. When the Nanticoke catcher threw down to second, Chiampi raced home from third with the second run. A fine running catch by Kristen Clay in left field ended the to of the fifth inning and prevented two battle of unbeaten teams. BMT struck early with 2 in the first and 5 in the second and won by a score of 12-5. Hitting stars were Rachel Kukosky with two hits, including a double and four RBIs, Jaime Sickler with a triple and a single, Jamie Sulewski with two singles, and Molly Guntli with two singles and three RBIs. Guntli was the winning pitcher, allowing only one hit and striking out nine in six innings. t when exa BMT American falls in 8-9 tournament BMT eliminated Mountaintop Thursday with a convincing 16-4 win in four innings. Sam Lloyd and Lisa Wasser started the game with back-to-back triples and BMT scored 13 runs-in the first two innings to put the game out of reach. Lloyd had three hits and Wasser had two hits, while Lauren Panon, Rachel Kukosky, Molly Guntli and Carla Chiampi all had Back Mountain American 8-9 year old All-Stars were eliminated from the Ed-Lark Tournament on Sunday, losing to Wyoming /West Wyoming 16-6. Nick Oschman singled, was hit by a pitch, and scored two runs, and Chris Tooley singled, walked twice and scored a run in defeat. But with the lead run on third and one out, Guntli struck out the last two batters. That set the stage for the U-9, U-10 travel soccer tryouts ing one hit, striking out seven. Back Mountain won all six games that they played in’ the tournament. Four of the games only lasted four innings due to the 10 run rule The offense gener- ated 80 runs, almost three per inning. The four BMT pitchers allowed only five hits and 24 runs, while striking out 41. The defense was strong throughout, making several spectacular plays. All 14 girls on the team contributed to the wins. This is the third time in the last four years that the Back Moun- tain All Star team has won the loss, striking out six over four innings. In the first game of the tourna- ment Back Mountain American American's only run on a single by Brian Feleccia. Jeff Robzen pitched well in defeat by striking out nine batter in four innings. Harveys Lake Little League Harveys Lake 11- Ashley/Newton 1 (July 2) Dustin Kapson hurled a three hitter and fanned nine to lead Harveys Lake to victory. Leading hitters were Ryan Besteder and Matt Ide who each had a single and triple. Jesse Turner and Willie Weber had doubles. Duryea 16 - Harveys Lake 6 (July 7) Duryea unleashed a 21 hit attack to eliminate Harveys Lake. Phil Kasper led Harveys Lake with three hits including a double.
