Diana Emery of Dallas, a psy- chology major and English minor, is a 1993 graduate of Lake-Leh- man High School. A Dean's List student, Emery was a Hackman scholar and orientation advisor. ~ She was also named to the Dean's List for the Spring 1997 semester. Emery is the daughter of Barbara and Robert Emery, Dallas. Janice Shynn of Shavertown, a biology and psychology joint ma- jor, is a 1993 graduate of Wyo- ming Seminary. An Honors List student, Shynn earned membership in the Alpha Epsilon Delta National Premedical Honor Society, was a member of the college's chamber chorus and was an orientation adviser. She is the daughter of Dr. Tae Il and Kyong Shynn, Shavertown. Shovlin graduates from Ursinus Patrice C. Shovlin was graduated from Ursinus College with a bachelor of science degree, cum laude, and departmental honors in psychology during commencement exercises on Sat., May 17 on the college campus. While studying at Ursinus, she was named to the Dean's Honor List and Phi Chi, the national honor society in psychology. She was a member of the Psychology Club, Omega Chi sorority and the Division I field hockey and Division III soccer teams. : With clasasmate Michael Antonio, she presented research, “An Assessment of HIV Issues among Inmates at a State Correctional Institution,” at the 12th annual University of Scranton Psychology Conference in March. She will attend graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania. A graduate of Dallas High School, she is the daughter of Randall and Patricia Xenakis of Dallas. Nina Mathers earns degree from Juniata Nina M. Mathers of Trucksville, received a bachelor of science degree majoring in allied health and social services from Juniata College. Nina studied abroad at the Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education, England, during her junior year. She was a member of Beta Beta Beta, the biological honor society. Nina served as the director of Special Olympics programs at Juniata and was captain of the women's field hockey team. She was also named to the dean's list. A 1993 graduate of Dallas Senior High School, Nina is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary R. Mathers. Nina plans to pursue a career in occupational therapy. Dallas Class of 1977 to hold reunion July 5 Dallas High School Class of 1977 is holding its 20th reunion at 5 Alma DeRojas to attend | student business conference o Alma DeRojas, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Juan J. DeRojas of Dal- las, will attend the Future Busi- ness Leaders of America National Leadership Conference on June 27-July 4, in Anaheim, Cali- fornia. Having quali- fied in both the regional and state levels, she will compete with other FBLA members from across the nation in the Business Communications event. This is the second consecutive year that DeRojas has qualified for national-level competition. At the 1996 conference in Washing- ton, D.C., she placed first in the nation in the Introductin to Busi- ness Communications event. A distinguished honor roll stu- dent at Bishop O'Reilly High School and National Merit Schol- arship Commended Student, DeRojas has many activities and ALMA DEROJAS interests. Currently ranked first in her class, she is a member of the National Honor Society, Na- tional Spanish Honor Society, Spanish Club, Foreign Correspon- dence Club, Glee Club, Chamber Choir, Folk Group, school musi- cal and Yearbook Committee. During the past two years she has won first-place regional and state awards in Pennsylvania Jr. Academy of Science competition and participated in the PMEA Dis- trict 9 Chorus Festival. In addi- tion, she served as FBLA Region 16 treasurer this past year and was reelected to the office for the 1997-98 school year. She is also a graduate of Junior Leadership Wilkes-Barre Class of 1996-97, has been named to Who's Who " Among American High School Stu- dent and the Wyoming Valley Youth Salute and plays varsity field hockey. Her out of school interests in- clude piano and voice lessons. A member of St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown, she serves as cantor and participates in the choir. Two receive book scholarship This year’s recipients of the D.H.S. Soccer Club Book Scholarships are Devin Michael and Justin Kerr. Each year the Soccer Club awards a scholarship to a senior team member based on excellence in academics, team and community service. Devin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Michael of Dallas., and will be pursuing a career in Computer/Electrical Engineering at Penn State Lehman.
