Also scoring for St. Johns were Mike Fehlinger, 6 points; Brett Sprau, 4 points and Tyler Karalunas 2 points. St. Johns finished the season with a record of 12-0. Other players were Zach Turchin, Mark Kertesz, D.J. Tasselmyer, and Sean Gilroy. Coach was Herb Fehlinger. Miami was led by Chase Susko, 11 points, Donny Murray, 14 points and Elijah Miller, 3 points. Other players for Miami were Doug Zaruta, Joe Liparella, Cory Schultz, Peter VanlLoon and Jimmy Larson. Swimming (continued from page 9) time at the district meet. “It's great to go to states,” added Schweitzer. “I really cannot be- lieve it.” One of Schweitzer’s great abili- ties is his willingness to accept challenges. “He's not concerned about failure,” said Stretanski. Only a freshman and 15 years of age, Matt is an extremely focused individual. “He learns from every experience,” remarked Stretanski. Schweitzer is the school’s first male swimmer to qualify for states. His sister, Emily, was the school’s first female to qualify for states. She competed as a diver in 1996. Emily happens to also be Matt's role model. Besides Emily, Matt has gotten tremendous support from his parents. “My parents and also my coaches have had a great influence on me as a swim- mer and a person,” Matt said. 7-8 ball (continued from page 9) the Heat's leading scorer Jason Race picked up his fifth foul and the tide changed to the Sixers. BULLS 60 - CELTICS 54 In the second game of the after- noon the Bulls defeated the fine Celtic team 60-54. It was a battle of each team’s big men, Paul Dougal for the Bulls and Matt Eyet for the Celtics. The first quarter could not get any closer, with the Celtics outscoring the Bulls 10-9. Leading the way for the Celtics in the quarter was Matt Eyet, and for the Bulls it was Paul Dougal and Danny Laurenzi. The second quarter was a battle of the boards and the inside game. Each team traded baskets. The Celtics’ Matt Eyet scored 12 of his 25 points in the second quarter while Paul Dougal and Lloyd Drop- pers combined for 12 points. The Bulls and Celtics each scored 20 points in the quarter and the score at halftime had the Celtics up 30- 29. The third quarter was a car- bon copy of the second. The Bulls outscored the Celtics 14-13 to tie the game up at 43 at quarters end. The Bulls’ Paul Dougal scored 13 of his game high 37 points in the last quarter to seal the win for the Bulls. The Bulls’ offense was led by Paul Dougal with 37 points, followed by Lloyd Droppers with 11 points and Danny Laurenzi with 10 points. The Celtics’ of- fense was led by Matt Eyet with 25 points, followed by Jared Karalunas with 16 points and John Lukasavage with 6 points. The Celtics are coached by Russ Eyet. Jason Maciejczak and Sam Saylor both lost their first two bouts at 112 and 140, respec- tively. “I really feel bad for Bill and Joe,” said Williams. “They were in the semi-finals and one win away from going to states.
