Born in Milwaukee, son of Mary Zeiss Ayers, Milwaukee, Lack- awanna County, and the late Ralph Ayers, he was a lifelong resident of the Newton-Ransom area. Prior to retirement in 1993, he was a self-employed contrac- tor for 50 years and was also the owner of the Red Barn Village, Newton Twp. He was a member of the Milwaukee United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of the Johnson School of Technology and a charter member of the Newton- Ransom Fire Company. JOHN OWENS Abington area resident since 1979 John Owens, 1217 Country Club Road, Clarks Summit, died Jan. 5, 1997, at Moses Taylor Hospital following an illness. His widow is the former Thelma Schuster. Born in Nanticoke, son of the late Norvin and Ethel Richards Owens, he had been an Abington area resident since 1979. ALIMENTI Old Forge dentist and father of Clarks Summit woman Dr. Frank C. Alimenti, 84, of Main Street, Old Forge, died Jan. 8, 1997, at home after a brief illness. His widow is the former Mary Woods. Born in Old Forge, son of the late Peter and Anunziata Sabatini Alimenti, he was a lifelong resi- dent of Old Forge. He was a 1930 graduate of Old Forge High School, attended the University of Scran- ton and was a 1935 graduate of Temple University, where he earned a doctor of dental surgery degree with honorable mention for operative dentistry. He prac- ticed dentistry in Old Forge prior to retirement. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a captain, and spent his tour of duty in Alabama. He was a mem- ber of St. Mary's Church, Old Forge. Also surviving are a son, Frank, Moscow; two daughters, Erma Schiavo, South Plainfield, N.J.; and Karen Shemonsky, Clarks Summit; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, John, Old Forge; a sister, Rose Alimenti, Old Forge; and nieces and nephews. McGinnis, pro- fessor of physics and electrical engineering at the University of Scranton, 1218 Clay Ave., Dun- more, died Jan. 9, 1997, at Com- munity Medical Center. His widow is the former Geraldine Husvar. Born in Jessup, son of the late Thomas and Anastasia Conniff McGinnis, he was a longtime mem- ber and lector of St. Paul's Church, Green Ridge, and Christ the King Church, Dunmore. For many years, he served as financial sec- retary of the university's chapter of the Knights of Columbus Coun- cil. He joined the University of Scranton facutly in 1948 after service in World War II as a Navy Flight engineer. He received a bachelor of science degree from the U of S, a master of science degree from New York University and a doctorate degree from Fordham University. Also surviving are a son, Eu- gene A.
