Pugh. Bocchiaro allegedly struck officer Damian Derrick Hoover June 12 while Hoover was directing traffic on Rt. 118 with his car. Two witnesses gave statements telling of Bocchiaro's 1989 black Honda D.U.I CHARGE - Benton resident Theodore K. Derhammer, 38, was arrested Aug. 25 by Lake Twp. patrolman John Young after police were dis- patched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Lamoraeux Rd. After failing sobriety tests, he took a blood test which showed ‘his blood level to be .150. ‘ Derhammer’s case will be tried in Luzerne County Court. A cita- tion for careless driving was dis- missed. YOUTH TURNS SELF IN ON THEFT CHARGE +Dallas resident Charles Sabulski, 18, who turned himself in on Sept. 18 for the Sept. 6th robbery of the Bittner residence in Dallas Twp. Dallas Twp. pa- trolman Jeffrey J. Dennis took Sabulski’'s confession to the rob- bery. Sabulski said that he and three others, who he named, took part in the robbery. The defen- dant and the other three took a VCR, a CD player, cordless phone, answering machine and jewelry. Everything was recovered except for a few pieces of jewelry that were sold. Sabulski was charged with two counts of conspiring theft by un- lawful taking, two counts of con- spiring to receive stolen property and two counts of conspiring cor- ruption of minors. Also, he was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and corruption of minors. THEFT CHARGE - Wilkes-Barre resident James Hawk, 38, who was arrested Nov. 18 by Kingston Twp. patrolman Walter Davis when police were notified that he deceived a couple striking the officer in the leg. Bocchiaro maintains that he was driving a black Honda on Rt. 118 at the time of the incident, but did not strike the officer. He was charged with three counts of simple assault and harrassment. A charge of reck- lessly endangering another per- son was dismissed. out of $60. On Nov. 12, Janice Piasta called and told police that Hawk said that he would get her and her husband an air condi- tioner for $60, but needed the money right then and would bring the appliance right back. The defendant allegedly never brought back the air conditioner or the Piasta’s money, they never saw him again. He was charged with theft by deception, false impres- sion and theft by deception, fail to correct. CHARGE DISMISSED A charge of receiving stolen property against Harveys Lake resident Jimmie Kreidler Jr., 18, was dismissed Nov. 27. He had been arrested Oct. 28 by Lehman Twp. patrolman John Young after police were made aware that a motorcycle that was reported sto- len on. Sept. 29 by James Romanchick had been recovered. The motorcycle belonged to Jason Butler On Oct. 14 the defendant met with Timothy Teetsel and showed him the bike, telling him that he bought it from someone in the Jamesway parking lot. Kreidler told Teetsel that he could buy it from him for $300. On the same day, Romanchick and Butler received word that Kreidler had the bike. They went to Kreidler's residence and saw him pushing the bike. After they told him who the motorcycle be- longed to, Kreidler gave it back without hesitation. VEHICLE CHARGES Tunkhannock resident, Charles Silsby, 46, who was ar- rested Oct. 6 by Dallas Twp. pa- trolman Jeffrey J. Dennis stopped Silsby after ob- serving him drive in the left lane and driving 62 mph in a 35 mph zone. Silsby passed a field sobri- ety test. As Dennis was calling in Silsby’s information, Silsby approached the police car and told him that the car was completely illegal, had no insurance on it, the registra- tion belonged to another vehicle and that he did cover the 6/95 sticker on the license plate with a 1/97 sticker which belongs to another registration. Silsby was charged with limita- tions on driving on left side of road, speeding, operating a ve- hicle without a valid inspection, driving an unregistered vehicle, violation of use of certificate of inspection and failure to display certification of inspection. A charge for operating vehicle without requested financial re- sponsibility was dismissed. DRUG CHARGE Dallas resident Elizabeth A. Evans was arrested Sept. 1 by PA State Police patrolman Gerald Williams after police observed her bringing a controlled substance in the State Correctional Institu- tion at Dallas. Police discovered the substance at the main gate of the prison where she was asked to empty her change purse. The substance, later identified as cocaine alleg- edly fell out of her purse and the officer seized it. Evans was was interviewed at the scene and ad- mitted to having the substance at the prison, but said it must be- long to someone else and it was placed in her change purse with- out her knowledge. Evans was charged with con- traband/controlled substance and possession of controlled sub- stance. A charge for disorderly conduct was dismissed.
