Local 137-C were recently recognized for their key role in the 1996 National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Food Drive. ELECTRIC SERVICE Ray earns her Gold Award Karri-ane Ray recently received the Gold Award, Girl Scouting’s highest achievement, during a candlelight flag ceremony held at the Mehoopany Township Build- ing. Karri-ane is the daughter of Kevin and Sharon Ray, Forkston and the granddaughter of Albert and Kaye Ray, Sweet Valley. She attends Tunkhannock Area High School, where she is a mem- ber of the concert and marching bands. Ray also maintains an honor roll statis. She is also a junior volunteer firefighter for the FWM Fire company and a mem- ber of the Forkston United Meth- odist Church and the Reach for Youth Group. Karri-ane is a member of Mehoopany Cadette /Senior Troop 466. She has been a Girl Scout for nine years, attended resident camp at Camp Archbald for eight years and has attended numer- ous troop camping activities. She has held the positions of presi- dent and vice president for the troop. To earn the Gold Award Ray Killian honored for service Stephen B. Killian of Shavertown was honored recently with Wyoming Seminary’s Alumni Association Award for his dedica- tion and valuable service to the school. Killian, a 1966 graduate, has served as president of the school's Alumni Association, and is amem- ber of the school’s board of trust- ees and Alumni Council. A graduate of Dickinson Col- lege and the Dickinson School of had to complete five requirements. She had to earn four patches (each patch takes about 15 hours to complete), the Senior Leadership Pin (requires 30 hours of leader- ship activities), the Career Explo- ration Pin (she worked a part- time job) and the Senior Chal- lenge Pin (this has five require- ments also). The last-requirement is a 50- hour project to benefit the com- munity or other Girl Scouts. She worked with others in her troop to produce a training videotape to help younger scouts sell Girl Scout Cookies in a safe and polite man- ner. Ray was responsible for cast- ing, locations and organizing the viewing schedule. The video was shown to nine troops in the Tunkhannock Neigh- borhood as well as to the Gold Award Committee. The project was so well received that Council asked permission to make copies of the video and dis- tribute it to other neighborhoods in the Scranton Pocono council as a training resource for 1997 cookie sales. KARRI-ANE RAY Law, Killian is a partner with the Wilkes-Barre law firm of Silverblatt and Townend. He volunteers for the Wyoming Historical and Geo- logical Society, the Wilkes-Barre Law and Library Association, the Visiting Nurses’ Association, the Wyoming Valley Montessori School and the St. David's Society of Wyoming Valley.
