Roaring Brook Church An open house celebration was held recently at Roaring Brook Baptist Church, Hunlock Creek to honor 20 years of ministry by Paston Dan Brubaker and his wife Ruth Ann and their children. On behalf of the entire congre- gation Tom and Lois Marvin pre- sented Pastor and Ruth Ann with two photo albums filled with pic- tures of the church family, mis- sionaries, members of the com- munity, pastors from other local churches and special events held at the church, such as Vacation Bible School and the AWANA Min- istry and Sunday School program. “Danieland Alberta Hudzik pre- sented Brubaker with an engraved desk clock thanking them for their 20 years of dedicated service at Roaring Brook Baptist Church and amonetary gift in appreciation for the unconditional love they have shown to each and every person they have met since moving to our community. + “Pastor Dan Brubaker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Brubaker of Mount Pleasant Mills, and is a graduate of Middleburg High School. “He is also a 1975 graduate of Tennessee Temple University in Chatanooga, with a bachelor's de- gree in Bible Studies, and a 1995 « 4 NONOTS Brubakers' service graduate of Baptist Bible Semi- nary in Clarks Summit with a masler's degree in pastoral min- istry. Pastor Brubaker also served al a church in Scottsboro, Ala- bama [or wo years prior {0 mov- ing to the Hunlock Creek area. Ruth Ann Brubaker is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Rich- ard Hackenberg of Mifflinburg, and is a graduate of Mifflinburg High School. She is also a gradu- ale of Montco Area Technical School in Lansdale, receiving her licensed practical nursing degree in 1971. She attended classes at Tennessee Temple University from 1972 to 1975, and is currently working toward her bachelor’s degree in women’s studies from Trinity College in Indiana. Pastor Dan and Ruth Ann were married in First Baptist Church, Northumberland. on December 8, 1971, and have four children. Danny is a graduate of Penn Tech in Williamsport and is currently working as a contractor. Beth Ann is a senior al Cedarville College, Cedarville, OH. Jason is a senior al Muhlenburg Christian Academy and is doing missionary work in the Dominican Republic this summer. Chris is an eighth grade student at Muhlenburg Christian Academy. Scouts explore White Haven area Rev. Dan and Ruth Ann Brubaker were recently honored for their service to the community by the congragation of the Roaring Brcok Baptist church. L] F from municipal building HARVEYS LAKE - A large cast-iron steamboat propeller was stolen last weekend, between Friday night and noon Tuesday, from the grounds of the muncipal building. Lane Dixon Kilburn, C.S.C., Award for distinguished service to King's College. John McKeown is administra- tor of the Allied Health Program at King's. The World War II veteran served the U.S. Government for 40 years as personnel director and assistant director at the Vet- erans Administration Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, following a military career as personnel of- ficer. He assumed his position at the college when he retired in 1978. Former chairperson of the PARD committee of the United Way of Wyoming Valley, McKeown also has served the community as a member of the board of direc- tors of the United Way; as a board member, past chairperson and volunteer with Catholic Social Services for 35 years; and as a past chairperson and board mem- ber of the Luzerne County Human Services Council for 20 years. He is cultural chairperson of the Donegal Society, AOH, and Friendly Sons, and chairperson of the FEMA committee for Luzerne County. a The couple has served on the board of trustees of the Passionist Nuns, Clarks Summit , for the past. 30 years, where John currently | serves as chairperson. The couple has volunteersedfor the King's Col- lege Annual Fund Drive for the past 12 years. John was chairper- son for the 100th anniversary of Holy Saviour Church. Peg McKeown is retired from the early childhood program in. Wilkes-Barre area schools, where, ' she still volunteers. She also vol- | unteers at the Riverview Ridge Personal Care Center. In 1974 the - McKeowns originated the Irish Teachers program at King's which annually sponsors the visit of 25 to 30 teaches on a cultural ex-" change to the Wyoming Valley..
