Mature drivers' course offered The Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas, has joined with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) to offer a “55 Alive/Mature Driving” course, which helps drivers over 50 improve their driving skills. Participants receive a state mandated 5% discount on their auto insurance for three years. The first session will be held August 6, from 8:30 to 12:30 at the Meadows all purpose room, first floor. The second session will be held August 8, at the same time and location. Course fee is $8 and participants must attend both sessions. MR. AND MRS. HENRY BERGSTRASSER Bergstrassers to celebrate 60th wedding anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Henry P. Bergstrasser of 50 Water Street, Dallas, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary August 1. Mrs. Bergstrasser is the former Dorothy M. Stacey, daughter of the late Thomas and Dora Stacey. Mr. Bergstirasser is the son of the late Philip and Stella Bergstrasser. The couple was married on August 1, 1936, in Mrs. Bergstrasser's family home, 199 McLean Street Wilkes-Barre, by the late Rev. Joshua Brundel, assisted by Mrs. Bergstrasser's late brother, Rev. Thomas Stacey. The attendants were Mrs. Richard Lewis of Kingston, and her late husband Richard Lewis. The couple has two children, Beverly Burnaford of Dallas and Judy Johnsen of Williamsport. They have [ive grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Bergstrasser is retired from the A&P Tea Company and has been very active in church work. He is a lay speaker and has been guest speaker for many area churches. He also has conducted Bible studies and worship services in numerous nursing homes throughout Wyoming Valley. Presently, he holds monthly services at the Adult Day Care in Wilkes-Barre. He taught Sunday School for many years at the Idetown United Methodist Church, where Mr. and Mrs. Bergstrasser are members. A family dinner will be held to celebrate the occasion. Kim Gaylord and her mother Linda Gaylord, sopranos in the choir will sing for several services. Kim is known in the Back Moun- tain for her solo work in perfor- mances at the Lehman High School. Thomas Rowader, a bass, has been a member of'both a gospel singing group and a barger shop quartet before moving to this area several years ago. : Area soloists include alto Ellen Rutkowski, well known in music circles as a member of Zusammen, solist with the Wyoming Valley Oratorio Society and alto section leader for the Singer's Guild of Scranton. Two soloists from St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Wilkes-Barre, will also be featured: soprano Caron Nelson and bass mark Van! Valin.
