Gruen Citizenship Award was presented to Joshua Maye, son of Patricia Maye and the late Charles Maye, RR 4, Dallas. This award is presented annually in memory of Michael Gruen, a sixth grade-teacher at Lehman-Jackson who died in an automobile accident in October, 1976. Joshua was selected by teachers and students on the basis of academics, dependability, honesty, co-operation, respect and leadership. Attending were Linda Wasley, sixth grade teacher; Ryan'Maye, Patricia Maye, Joshua Maye and Charles C. James, principal. Marching Knights are best in class The Lake-Lehman Band recently competed in Sherburne, NY at the 47th Annual Pageant of Bands, scoring first place in concert band, Indoor Guard, Parade and field show, earning the title of “Best in Class.” The Band director Edward A. Y § | y £0) Mead graduates from Ursinus Heather Dawn Mead recently graduated from Ursinus College with a bachelor of arts degree in English and a minor in creative writing, during commencement exercises May 18, on the college campus. A total of 430 students graduated with the class. While at Ursinus, she was named to Sigma Tau Delta, the national English honor society, was awarded the 1995 prize for fiction of The Lantern, campus library magazine, for her short story, “Hollow,” and had a paper published in the Journal for Un- dergraduate Research. The paper also was published in a creative writing workshop guide that will be used at colleges nationwide. Mead was co-editor of The Lan- tern and was a member of the Literary Society, the Women's Forum and the Java Trench cam- pus cofleehouse. At commencement she received The Alfred 1..
