Cassell II, 20, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and coun- sel on charges of possession of ‘marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia May 30 before Dis- trict Justice James Tupper. He was arrested April 15 by Dallas Borough patrolman Fred ‘Rosencrans, who had been called by College Misericordia security guard Michael Fuller. Fuller told police he noticed a suspicious white sports car in the parking lot. When they approached the car, security guards saw Cassell PLEADS GUILTY TO POSSESSION Hazleton resident Brian W. Lauer, 28, pled guilty to posses- sion of drug paraphernalia and paid a total of $375 in fines plus $148 in court costs for his charge and a citation for driving an un- registered vehicle after a prelimi- ‘nary hearing May 30. A related charge of possession of marijuana ‘wasdismissed, according to court ‘records. He was arrested April 7 by Dal- las Borough patrolman James ‘Martin after police observed him ‘driving a car with an expired li- cense plate. Police confiscated a Swiss Army ‘knife, a pipe and a black film canister and two plastic bags con- taining suspected marijuana dur- ing aroutine search of the vehicle. HARVEYS LAKE MANTO FACE TRIAL FOR ASSAULT Harveys Lake resident William Trindle, Jr., 18, waived his rights ~ to counsel and to a preliminary hearing May 30 on two counts of simple assault and one count of disorderly conduct. The charges stemmed from an incident May 24, in which Trindle admitted reaching through the window of a car parked at the Lake-Lehman High School and striking Ryan Picci numerous . times in the face. Picci was treated + at the Wilkes-Barre General Hos- « «pital for a broken blood vessel in his left eye, bleeding from the possession of drugs, paraphernalia quickly shove something into his jacket pocket. They confiscated a small brown case containing a green vegetable substance, a pipe and Cassell's jacket, which con- tained more of the suspected marijuana spilled in a pocket. A blood test showed his blood alcohol level to be .178, nearly twice the legal limit of . 10. Karasek was also cited for failure to keep right. He was represented by attor- ney Gerald Wassil. e Sweet Valley resident Raymond Cross, 43, was arrested Aug. 26, 1993, by Dallas Borough patrolman James Drury and re- fused to take a blood alcohol test, which resulted in the automatic suspension of his driver's license for one year. He was also cited [or driving with a suspended license, making an improper left turn and not using his low beam. Cross never accepted his court summons by certified mail and left the state for Nevada, not know- ing a warrant for his arrest had automatically been issued.
