Chad Sorber will see the most playing time of four freshman who are being asked for to contribute. He's the starting shortstop. Ralph Wasiakowski backs up at second base and could be used elsewhere. Engle will play third when not pitching. Woronko hit .350 as a sopho- more, but more importantly gives Lehman one of the best receivers in the league. Smart and not afraid to get dirty, the junior also sup- plies leadership from behind the plate. Adamshick and Harold Roberts are the backup catchers. A senior, Roberts returns after a few years away from the team. Ed Sichler is the club's top pinch hitter while Jason Perlis figures to see some varsity action in the outfield as a defensive re- placement. Besides the pitchers, other j.v. players who may see limited varsily playing time in- clude Mike Kenney and the other freshmen: Mike Brown, Seth Moyer and Joel Ripple. The Lehman lineup is features speed, power and good hitters from both sides of the plate. He'd like {o see the hitters dominate so he can give the younger players some game experience. With players concentrating on just one posi- tion or two he's shoring up the defense to give his pitchers one less worry. “We're hoping to get into the Sorber said. stale tournament,” “To do that we'll need to win dis- tricts. We have a shot, but so do .some other teams.” Last year, Lehman closed the season with three consecutive losses and missed the playoffs by one game. The two final defeats came al the hands of the AA-I teams that qualified for the post- season: Meyers and Bishop Hoban. The Knights will probably once again fight it out with those two and perhaps G.A.R. for the divi- sion crown. A year wiser and more experienced, the Knights don't figure on a three-game skid at the end, but pitching will once again be the key. The fireballing Engle could be the difference. Humphreys is the number two starter. Fostock will also see action on the mound while Oliver has been dubbed the team’s closer. “With three games a week, we'll have to use them and possibly some other guys,” Sorber added. “We have four sophomores who are all fairly close. At times they've all looked good and other times they don't.” The four sophomore hurlers are Mike Hollos, Jeremy Carsman, Eric Maciejczak and ‘Brock Rapsen. Area talent (continued from page 9) .318 last season. He's the num- ber one hurler and will also play shortstop. Two of the many freshman on the roster are local players and expect to see some varsily time. Kyle Droppers plays infield and can pitch. Aaron Katyl is an out- fielder. “A lot of the kids on this team are enthusiastic and that type of attitude can make things hap- pen.” Kersey said. Other top players include Dan Gershey (2B-C), Corey Rudzinski (OF-P) and senior Henry Kinsey (C-DP). Nesbitt Field in Kingston is once again the site of Seminary's home games. By seasons end, Tech could be in that spoilers role again this spring. There are no Back Mountain players on the roster. Top ath- letes include Jerry Long (P-SS), Chris Evans (2B-P), Todd Montigney (RF-1B) and Brian Berry (CF). “We want to be better than last year,” said Milus. “When we get one win, we'll want to build from that.” Tech refers to their ballpark as Titan Field, which is located near the school in Pringle. For that to occur two things need to happen: Jumper and Getz will need to continue to progress, and, more production will be required from the likes of Valvano, Podehl, Stolarcyzk and Natitus. More offense from McDonald, a fixture in the lineup, will be greatly appreciated. ‘THE PROFESSIONAL'S CHOICE » Inspections that Exceed ASHI Standards » Certified Professional Inspectors « Complete, Easy to Read & Understand Reports Given On-Site...No Waiting « 24 Hour Service - 7 Days a Week Cat?
