While the sport may appear . dangerous, McCabe says he hasn't suffered anything butbruises. “I've + had a few crashes that were really . bad, but I've never been seriously . hurt.” he says. The races are divided into dif- ferent classes according to the minimum weight of the Kart and driver with all safety equipment. This year, McCabe competed in three adult classes at Hughesville, taking first in the 360 1b. Briggs & Stratton class, third in the 335 1b. Briggs & Stratton class, and sec- ond in the 340 lb. Yamaha class. He also received “Driver of the Year” honors at Hughesville. At ~ mmOakland Valley, New York, he Li 2 od wa ho” i Ed BCs I. competed in the 350 Ib. Briggs & Stratton class, finishing third for the year. He also finished in the top 10 in Frackville, and at his first National Gold Cup event at Chestertown, Md. As for the rest of the season, McCabe is looking forward to races in Southern Pa. and Western New Jersey in early November, and is hoping to compete in the final national event in South Carolina over Thanksgiving. Next season, McCabe plans to race at most of the same tracks, perhaps add a few, and, “Defi- nitely go to several national events.” McCabe would like to thank his engine builders, Turk Brothers (Briggs & Stratton) and Shupps’ Kart Shop (Yamaha), and his sponsors: Hanover Ornamental Iron, Dallas; Colours Inc.; Pioneer American Bank; Landesign, Tunkhannock; and Castle Chemi- cals for their support this past season. | 5 Boatety “ also purchased videos featuring .
