Jen Johnstone made it 5-0 after putting in a pass from Kacy Ziomek at 10:54. Junior Christina Farrell closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal with 9:13 remaining. Senior goalie Jonelle Elgaway turned in another superb per- formance in the net. The Lady Knights didn't lose much when fellow senior Pam Rish took over the goal with 9:12 remaining. Rish posted a 0.82 goals-against aver- age while filling in for the injured Elgaway a season ago. The duo combined for five saves during the win over the Spartans. Twenty-one different Lehman players saw action in Monday's contest. Lipski was elated to provide some varsity experience for a number of the younger play- ers and move some other girls around on the field. “Next year that will mean alot,” Lipski said. The veteran coach would love to draw an analogy between Monday's win and the way she'd like to see the season pan out. Start out slow, wear down the opponent and turn up the heat at the end. The Lehman coaching staff is bewildered, but the Lady Knights often start the season strong, but let down and lose momentum near the end. “I hope that doesn't happen this year,” Lipski said. “This is a young team, they're really work- ing and staying focused at prac- tice. Instead of declining that's going to make us better and bet- ter.” With a 6-2 record, the Knights are in excellent position to earn a playoff spot. Monday's contest was the first of four this week. If the Lady Knights can make it a clean sweep they may find themselves at or near the top of the AA standings by the weekend.
