He lived in Dallas for the past ~ 40 years. Prior to his retirement he was self-employed as a barber with his shop in Dallas. JOSIAH SMITH Josiah Smith, 86, of Harveys Lake, died May 22, 1995, at Lake- side Nursing Home, Idetown. Born in Hanover Township, he was the son of the late Josiah and Jane Ann Teasdale Smith. He resided in Hanover Town- ship for many years before mov- ing to Harveys Laike. Before retiring, he was em- ployed as a supervisor for Atwater Throwing Co., formerly of Wilkes- Barre. He was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Dallas. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul H. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Mary Tomko; son, Geroge C., Stroudsburg; daughter, Jean Hoover, Harveys Lake; nine grand- children; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., Thursday, from the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, 672 Memorial Highway, Dallas. Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Park, Carverton. STEVEN DECKER Steven Allan Decker, 27, of Wilmore, KY., formerly of Law- rence Park and Trucksville, died April 30, 1995, from injuries sustained in a fall while hiking. Born in Erie, he was the son of Peter and Louise Carlson Decker of Lawrence Park. : He served as an assistant pas- tor at Living Faith Free Methodist Church, in Trucksville, Kingston Township. for two years. Surviving in addition to his parents are a sister, Mrs., Charles Rodland, Harborcreek; niece, nephew, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were held in Kentucky. REV. KENNETH BOOTH The Rev. Kenneth E. Booth, 66, of RR 2,. Harveys Lake, Ruggles, died May 19, 1995 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Idetown, he was the son of the late Walter and Lana Audrey Baer Booth. He had lived in Ruggles for most of his life. He was a 1946 graduate of Laketon High School and was a corporalinthe U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He attended Elohim Bible Col- lege, Castile, NY and recieved a bachelor of arts degree in psy- chology and Bible from Tennesse Temple University in Chattanooga, TN rey He was employed as a psy- chologist for several state institu- tions for 15 years, including the State Correctional Institute at Dallas and the former Retreat State Hospital in Hunlock Creek, retiring in 1977. He and his wife, the former Joan Shafer celebrated their 45th wedding anniversasry March 10. He was a member of the Elohim Bible Church in Dallas. He was a District Deputy and fourth-degree member of the Assumpta Council Knights of Columbus, Luzerne. He served as a judge of elec- tions for Dallas Township and was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas. He and his wife, the former Affa Nulton, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, on Dec. 10. DAVID KUNKLE Dr. David W. Kunkle, Wilkes- Barre, died May 19, 1995 at the Department of Vertan Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Dallas, he was the son of the late Warden and Rachel Davis Kunkle. He graduated from Dallas High School in 1951 and received his pre-dental degree from Wilkes University in 1953. In 1957, he received his D.M.D. from Temple University. He was a retired U.S. Navy Lieutenant. Prior to his retirement, Dr. Kunkle had an established dental practice in the Wilkes-Barre and Trucksville areas. He was a member of the First Welsh Presbyterian Church, South Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre. He was a member of the Ma- sonic Lodge F&AM, Dallas; Irem Temple AAONMS, Wilkes-Barre; Bloomsburg Consistory and the Wilkes-Barre Kiwanis. He was a merit badge coun- selor of the Boy Scouts of Amer- ica, Wyoming Council No. 542 and an active member of the Eagle Scouts. He and his wife, the former Joan Roberts, celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary Dec. 5, 1994. Surviving in addition to his wife, are sons, John, Wilkes-Barre; Paul, at home; daughter, Jane Nulton, Shavertown, Kingston Township; three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, from the First Welsh Presbyterian Church, with Rev. George B. Johnson, pastor, offici- ating. Kasko receives PBA award Charles Kasko, Shavertown account executive with Avis America, Avis, PA has been named the regional vice president of the year by the Pennsylvania Builders Association (PBA), Harrisburg. The award is one of the association’s highest honors and is presented annually to the individual who provides outstanding leadership, motivation and support to the PBA’s 40 local associations within their assigned region.
