Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a machine operator by the former Stressed Steel in Wilkes-Barre and was previously employed as a coal miner. ~ Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Margureite Bogart; son, Ha- rold R., Idetown; four grandchil- dren; one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. He also served in the U.S. Air Force Re- serve in Wyoming. He retired from the U.S. gov- ernment after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Veter- ans of Foreign Wars Post 283 in Kingston, the North End Slovak Club, the 440th Troop Carrier Group, Knights of Columbus Council 8224 in Dallas and Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas. . - He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice. A pioneer in the tire retreading industry, his tire company is one of the largest tire dealers in the northeastern U.S., with 11 locations. He had lived in the Back Moun- tain area since 1952, previously residing in Kingston and Ed- wardsville. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years, and was also a member of the Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg and Irem Temple, Wilkes-Barre. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Space; broth- ers, Merthyn, Ralph, James, Clifton and Llewellyn. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, the former Loretta M.
