The 7,440 square foot building will house a bank, car wash, convenience store and gas pumps. IN THE OLD DAYS - Dallas Esso station owner Clyde Birth showed off his new towtruck in this old photo of the Route 309/415 intersection, the future site of an Orloski’s gas station, car wash, full- service bank and food mart. Orloski's (continued from page 1) ough, Luzerne County and the state have approved his plans. He hopes to be open for business by mid- August. Designed by Flack-Wallack of Dallas, the 7,440 square-foot building will house a self-service gas station, full-service Astro car wash, food mart and full-service Commonwealth Bank with both drive-in and walkup facilities. It will create between 20 and 30 new jobs, Orloski estimated. “Customers will be able to shop, fill their tank, wash the car and do their banking all in one stop,” Orloski said. “No one else has anything like this anywhere. It's the latest trend and will be written up in trade journals all over the country.” Although no traffic signals are planned for the Orloski's entrance, if one is required later, Orloski and the shopping center will share the cost of installation. The location formerly housed the Tokyo Restau- rant and the Dallas Exxon, was Birth's Esso station in the 1940's. Owner Clyde Birth added more garage space for a repair business in the mid 1960's. : After his death, his widow sold the building to Exxon, which leased it to Jack Downey for six years, Dave Spurlin took over the gas station's lease in 1976. ) Orloski's has been in business for 27 years and has 41 locations in Northeastern Pennsylvania, in- cluding two smaller units in the Back Mountain.
