An example of such a group would be T.S.A. T.S.A. stands for Technology Student Association. This na- tional organization was created by industrial arts teachers who wanted to give their students opportunities to be recognized for their accomplishments during technology education or indus- trial art courses. The teachers who advise T.S.A. are Byron Race, Dave Hopfer, Dan Williams and John Holdrige. The student president is Linda Lan- ning. These people dedicate much of their time to help the students prepare their work for big compe- titions. They are also very sup- portive and teach the members that winning isn't everything. Yearly, T.S.A. members have several chances to compete against other chapters. Twenty two students participated in a regional competition held at Penn State Wilkes-Barre campus on February 24. All of the students who went to regionals will also be attending state competition April 27-29 at Seven Springs Resort, Champion, PA. There are several classifications in which a T.S.A. member can compete. Besides the typical shop categories, there are also compe- titions in extemporaneous speak- ing, prepared speech, and pho- tography. The variety of choices allows the students to choose the | event for which they are best qualified. While some schools in south- ern Pennsylvania have hundreds of members in T.S.A., Lake- Lehman is a relatively small competitor; yet it does rather well’ for its size. | Jaci Race, who is a senior at Lake-Lehman, has been a mem-: ber of T.S.A. fora number of years. ' “It is a good group of kids. They’ are very dedicated to their work and the club. It is a shame that’ more people are not involved in’ thislearning experience,” she said. : Women's club offers scholarship GFWC Harveys Lake is offering a $500 Scholarship to a Lake- Lehman Senior.
