Geologist visits class As part of a study of current events, Dallas Middle School students in Ms. Ellen Boyer’s sixth grade social studies class invited geologist James Ward, of American Asphalt, who worked with a group of Yale University students studying fossils at the company’s Plains site. Ward discussed the work a geologist does and how fossils are located and dated. At the assembly were geologist, James Ward, and class member Kassy Yedesko. Wins Montessori School's geography bee Sarah C.P. Killian, a fourth year student at Wyoming Valley Montes- sori School, Kingston, recently won the school-level competition of the National Geography Bee and a chance at a $25,000 college scholarship. The school-level Bee, in which students answered oral questions on geography, was the first round in the seventh annual National Geog- raphy Bee, which is sponsored by National Geographic World and Chrysler Corporation. A Shavertown resident, Sarah is the daughter of Atty. Stephen B. and Estella Parker-Killian. She is a member of the Wilkes-Barre YMCA Dolphin Swim Team and played on the Back Mountain softball and soccer teams. A birth certificate or other ac- ceptable evidence of age must accompany each registration. A child must be five years of age on or before Sept. 30 to make him/ her eligible for Kindergarten. Those with last names begin- ning A-E will register March 13; those with F-K, March 14; those with L-R on March 15; and those with S-Z, March 16.
