The unbeaten Black Knights will be defending their class AA title. “The most serious threat will come from the Meyers Mohawks. The AA premlinaries, quarter- finals and semi-finals plus two " rounds of consolations are set for Friday night at Wyoming Valley West. The action moves to Hazle- ton Saturday with the fifth place matches at 2 PM, consulation J 3 finals at 3 PM and championships 1 LA L SSR Ah | Sg - - - ‘at 7:30. " The Black Knights, led by coaches Phil Lipski and Tom Wil- ‘liams, have a number of wrestlers ‘returning with district honors. 130-pound Mike Stuart and 135-pound Tim Sayre are two time defending champions. Returning champions from 1994 include “Matt Raczkowski at 103, 160- pound John Wood and heavy- ‘weight Vito Pilosi. 125-pound Joe Halowich and ‘145-pound Mike Pitcavage were Knights in spotlight at districts runners up in 94. 189-pound Mike Budzak finished third. Bill Breha and Allen Scott also figure to finish high for the Knights. Raczkowski, Stuart, Sayre and Budzak are presently ranked in the state. Steve Kaschenbach's Dallas team is riding a strong finish into districts. The Mountaineers have lost just one meet since the last week of January. Aaron Gringo leads the team with an 18-0 record. The 160 pounder was a district runner up last year along as was Mike Metz at 112. Other district returnees include Chris Kuderka, third at 140 and Adam Hoover fourth at 171. Mike Heffron and John Crispell also hope to finish high for Dallas this weekend. The AAA action takes place at Hazleton both nights. Little League clinic at Dallas The Dallas Baseball Boosters will host a Little League Baseball Clinic at the Dallas Middle School on March 18. It will feature former professional ball players Scott Francis (Atlanta Braves) and Mark Konopki (Boston Red Sox) and the Dallas Senior High School Coaching Staff and players. The clinic will cover hitting (3 machines), pitching, fielding and baserunning. The schedule is 8:30-11:30 for 7, 8, 9 and 10 year olds. 12:30-3:30 for 11 and 12 year olds plus 13 year olds entering senior league or teeners. The cost is $15 per player. Dallas Jr. football, cheerleading registration Dallas Junior Football and Cheerleading Ass'n will hold registration Sat., March 11 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Dallas Twp. police station on Route 309. Any boy or girl age 6 to 14 may register, with some weight restrictions. Must bring a copy of birth certificate, recent photo, and copy of insurance coverage. There is a fee of $30 per person or $40 per child. A physician will be available to perform physicals at a minimal charge.
